Speaking at a press conference ahead of West Ham's match against Fulham on the morning of March 5th, manager Nuno Santo stated that the decision stemmed from Traore's incredible physical condition. According to him, the 30-year-old's impressive muscles are entirely genetic, and he doesn't need to lift weights to improve his already toned physique.
"His physique is truly extraordinary. It's genetic and has been like that for many years. I told him to stay away from the gym. His current body weight is sufficient. Traore will still do injury prevention exercises, but he won't be lifting weights," Coach Santo emphasized.
Traore joined West Ham from Fulham in the January transfer window. Prior to that, he had a very successful spell working with manager Santo at Wolves from 2018 to 2021. However, since arriving at West Ham, the midfielder has yet to secure a regular starting place in the Premier League.
Traore stands out with his impressive physique. In 2020, he attracted attention when he stated that he didn't lift weights, contrary to what many sources had speculated. "My gym training is guided by a personal trainer, but I don't lift weights. It's genetics, and it makes my muscles develop very quickly," Traore once shared.
At that time, Traore averaged a speed of 35.4 km/h, placing him among the fastest players in the Premier League. Traore was a product of Barcelona's youth academy but couldn't secure a place in the first team. He later shone in the Premier League thanks to his exceptional speed and strength.
