Loyalty and affection...
Sixty-four years ago, in the middle of the Tak-Po-Rang forest (now part of Hamlet 2, Tra Giap Commune), the Military Political School of Military Region 5 was established.
During the arduous years of the resistance war, the Ca Dong and Co people here silently sheltered, hid, and supported the school's officers and students.
From those deep forests, generations of cadres were trained, matured, and contributed to the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country.
Now, as a prestigious training center of Military Region 5, the school returns to Tra Giap with many meaningful activities to express gratitude.
From 2021 to the present, the school has supported the construction of 5 charitable houses, each worth 80 million VND; along with providing tables, chairs, televisions, and essential gifts. By mid-2025, two more houses will be supported under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing.
Colonel Huynh Don, the school's principal, shared: "Returning to Tra Giap is not only an expression of gratitude but also a responsibility and sincere affection for the land that nurtured and sheltered the school during the resistance war. And today, when the commune still faces many difficulties, we hope to contribute a small, practical part to support the people in improving their lives."
One of the two households receiving assistance this time is the family of Mr. Nguyen Manh Tai, a Co ethnic minority member in Hamlet 2. “Now that the soldiers have helped us with 80 million dong, we are very happy. Thanks to the villagers contributing their labor, we are trying to finish building our house before September 2nd so we can have a decent place to celebrate Independence Day,” Mr. Tai said emotionally.
According to Mr. Ho Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Giap commune: "The commune has nearly 6,000 inhabitants, and their lives are still very difficult, with almost half being poor households. The school's support in building houses is very valuable; only with stable housing can people feel secure in developing their economy ."
Imprints by the pristine stream
One of the highlights in the series of commemorative activities is the large-scale memorial project being built next to the Nước Rin irrigation lake, marking the school's founding.
The project covers an area of over 3,000 square meters and is divided into two phases. Phase 1, valued at over 2.8 billion VND, includes foundations, yards, staircases, embankments, lighting, etc., and is now basically complete.
Phase 2 will continue with the monument, stone stelae, trees, and landscaping, creating a cultural and historical focal point in the heart of the highland commune.
The project, undertaken using the school's own resources and legitimate social contributions, is a vivid symbol of the bond between the military and the people, and of the historical thread that always flows in the hearts of the soldiers engaged in education .
From the old Nước Rin stream, where the school was built amidst bombs and bullets, today the sounds of machinery and people busily building houses and erecting memorials can still be heard.
It all felt like a heartfelt return, continuing the revolutionary tradition through concrete and enduring actions.
From that ancestral land, the meaningful activities of the Military School of Military Region 5 continue to spread throughout Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands, not only through military knowledge but also through unwavering loyalty and affection for the people.
