Among them, the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival at Sam Mountain is a major and important festival, attracting millions of pilgrims every year. On March 19th, An Giang solemnly held a ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival at Sam Mountain as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and to inaugurate the festival in 2025.

Along with the UNESCO certificate reception ceremony, An Giang also officially inaugurated the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival in 2025. This is a traditional festival, deeply rooted in the cultural identity of An Giang province, held annually from the 22nd to the 27th of April in the lunar calendar, attracting millions of visitors from all over. According to the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Khanh Hiep, the program for the UNESCO certificate reception ceremony recognizing the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the opening ceremony of the 2025 festival is expected to take place from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM on March 19th at the Nui Sam National Tourist Area.

“The Provincial People's Committee is the organizing agency. Coordinating units include: the Vietnam National UNESCO Committee; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs . The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with the Chau Doc City People's Committee and relevant units to implement the program. The program will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV), An Giang Radio and Television, and other regional television stations… The program is expected to include: a theatrical performance; a ceremony to receive the certificate of recognition; a video clip introducing the process of building the dossier submitted to UNESCO; a drum-beating ceremony to open the festival; and a special art program,” Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep informed.

Focus on the outstanding program.

According to General Director Khoa Nguyen (Ho Chi Minh City), many famous artists and singers are expected to perform at the ceremony, including: People's Artist Bach Tuyet, People's Artist Ta Minh Tam, renowned singer Ngoc Son, singers Phuong Thanh, Hien Thuc, Ung Hoang Phuc; the Provincial Cultural and Arts Center, Chau Doc City Cultural Center… With their love for their homeland, the singers, artists, and actors will present unique musical and theatrical performances, recreating traditional cultural values ​​and celebrating the beauty of An Giang province in particular and Vietnam in general.

According to Tran Quoc Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Chau Doc City People's Committee, the locality will coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, provincial departments, agencies, and relevant units to ensure good logistics, detailed program and script for the ceremony, urban beautification, and ceremonial decorations. They will also coordinate with the Provincial Police and other functional forces to ensure security, order, and traffic safety before, during, and after the ceremony. "Chau Doc will review all preparations, coordinate closely with relevant units, and ensure the ceremony is conducted meticulously, solemnly, and safely," Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan stated.

Ho Van Mung, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province, emphasized that the recognition of the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival at Sam Mountain by UNESCO as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is proof of the festival's unique and distinctive cultural values. At the same time, it is also international recognition of Vietnam's efforts in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values.

This is an opportunity for the people of An Giang in particular, and the whole country in general, to together recall the beautiful traditional cultural values ​​and promote the image of Vietnam and its people to international friends. This event also serves as motivation for An Giang to continue striving to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage, contributing to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of its people.

The recognition of the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival at Sam Mountain by UNESCO as a Representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is an event of immense historical significance, a source of pride for the people of An Giang and the entire Vietnamese nation.
