The Quang Tri 500 kV transformer station project and the Quang Tri - Vung Ang - Da Nang connection line were assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) as the investor. , Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) manages the project on behalf of EVNNPT.

The project has a total investment of 965 billion VND. This is an urgent power project in the National Power Development Plan with the goal of ensuring power supply for regional loads; release the capacity of power plants in the region into the national grid system; Improve reliability and safety of power supply to the regional power grid.

The 500 kV transformer station was built in Hai Truong commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province, about 500 km northeast of the existing Vung Ang - Da Nang 2,5 kV line. The station has transmission voltage levels of 500 kV and 220 kV, transformer capacity includes 02 500 kV - 2x(3×300) MVA transformers installed outdoors, the first phase is installed in advance of 01 transformer (3× 300) MVA.

The 500 kV line connecting the 500 kV Quang Tri substation is connected in and out on the existing 500 kV Da Nang - Ha Tinh and Da Nang - Vung Ang lines, including branch A about 3,1 km long and branch B long. about 2,8 km.

The 220 kV line connecting the 500 kV Quang Tri substation is connected in and out on the 220 kV Dong Ha - Hue line and the existing Dong Ha - Phong Dien line including branch A about 3,2 km long and branch B about 2,9 km long.

In recent times, aware of the importance of the project, CPMB has urgently implemented procedures for selecting contractors for related bidding packages of the project. Along with that, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, and localities, EVN, EVNNPT, and CPMB have completed procedures to implement the project's construction.

EVNNPT leaders also requested construction contractors to fully arrange human resources, materials, vehicles, machinery and equipment on the construction site, take advantage of favorable weather, and be ready to accelerate progress. In which, proactively coordinate with CPMB and local authorities at all levels in compensation and site clearance for construction, promptly reflecting difficulties so that all parties can participate in solving them; Organize construction with the goal of acceptance and energizing in the second quarter of 2025.

The project quality supervision consulting unit arranges forces to supervise and accept construction steps, ensuring the construction progress of construction contractors. Implement immediate acceptance of items once completed to shorten the acceptance schedule for completion of energization and handover. The design consulting unit sends author supervisors to be regularly present at the site to promptly handle arising problems and ensure the contractor's construction progress.
