On June 27th, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that they had coordinated with relevant units to dismantle a gambling ring organizing and participating in online football betting via the website www.hira88.com, arresting 11 suspects.

According to the police, Le Van Hoang (born in 1995, temporarily residing in Tran Bien ward, Dong Nai city) was the manager of the master account in Vietnam. Hoang colluded with individuals abroad to establish a transnational gambling system, then divided it into many sub-accounts, forming a multi-tiered gambling network operating in many provinces and cities nationwide.
Initially, investigators determined that in just the first six days of the 2026 World Cup finals (from June 11 to 17), the total amount of money used by the suspects for gambling exceeded 5 billion VND.
Notably, Hoang's two subordinate agents, Nguyen Quoc Truong (born in 1988) and Tran Huu An (born in 1990), both residing in Dong Nai City, not only organized betting for others but also directly participated in gambling with a total amount of nearly 1 billion VND.

Following a period of surveillance, from June 17th to 25th, the Nghe An Provincial Police simultaneously deployed forces and arrested 11 individuals for organizing gambling and participating in gambling. At the investigative agency, the suspects initially admitted to their criminal acts.
Currently, the case is still under investigation and being expanded.
