Are chicken eggs or duck eggs better?

According to the Health & Life newspaper, Dr. Tran Kim Anh stated that eggs are the most nutritious and balanced food among all types of food, suitable for children, pregnant women, and the elderly (except for a few who are allergic to eggs).

According to the Vietnamese Food Nutritional Composition Table of 2006 by the National Institute of Nutrition, eggs contain protein, lipids, carbohydrates, iron, calcium, phosphorus, beta-carotene, vitamins A, B1, B2, PP... (fertilized eggs also contain vitamin C), all essential for the body.

If we compare the nutritional content per 100g (chicken eggs, duck eggs, and fertilized duck eggs), fertilized duck eggs have significantly higher levels of iron, calcium, phosphorus, beta-carotene, vitamin A, and PP than chicken eggs and regular duck eggs. For example, vitamin A in chicken eggs is 700mcg, regular duck eggs: 360mcg, fertilized duck eggs: 875mcg; calcium in chicken eggs is 550mg, regular duck eggs: 710mg, fertilized duck eggs: 820mg.

In terms of energy, chicken eggs contain 166 kcal/100g, regular duck eggs contain 484 kcal, and fertilized duck eggs contain 162 kcal.

In terms of nutritional content, all three types of eggs are nutritious and non-toxic, suitable for everyone, including those with rheumatism, and are very good for pregnant and postpartum women.

However, people with high cholesterol or obesity should limit their consumption to 2-3 eggs per week. Note that when eating eggs, you should eat both the white and the yolk.

Many people wonder whether chicken eggs or duck eggs are better.

Many people wonder whether chicken eggs or duck eggs are better.

Previously, some people believed egg yolks were better and would eat the yolks while discarding the egg whites. The idea that egg whites are difficult to digest is a misconception, as egg whites contain lecithin, which helps metabolize cholesterol. It's best to consume them with milk, as milk is rich in lecithin, which helps neutralize cholesterol.

Things to keep in mind when eating eggs

Eggs are good for your health, but they need to be eaten correctly. VietNamNet newspaper quoted Dr. Ha Hai Nam, Lecturer in Oncology at Hanoi Medical University, as saying that when eating eggs, you should pay attention to the following:

For people with fever (especially children), eating chicken eggs will increase body heat, preventing it from dissipating, like "adding fuel to the fire," making the fever even worse.

Because eggs contain high levels of saturated fat and cholesterol, they are also advised to be consumed in moderation by people with type 2 diabetes and fatty liver disease, as this can increase the accumulation of these substances in the liver.

People with a history of gallstones or diarrhea should be aware that eating a lot of eggs, which are high in protein, can stimulate intestinal and gallbladder contractions. Since the intestinal and gallbladder systems of these patients are already weak, this can worsen abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

When eating eggs, limit your tea intake because the protein in eggs combines with the tannic acid in tea, causing indigestion. Also, avoid eating eggs with soy products, as this reduces nutrient absorption.

The habit of eating soft-boiled or raw eggs can cause food poisoning and vomiting because the eggshells contain tiny pores, posing a high risk of bacterial contamination. You should also avoid overcooking eggs or eating boiled eggs that have been left overnight.
