(Dan Tri Newspaper) - From March 30th, all IELTS exams in Vietnam will completely cease paper-based testing and switch to computer-based testing. This information was released today (January 7th) by the British Council.

Accordingly, after March 29th, the IELTS exam in Vietnam will switch entirely to a computer-based format. Candidates can register 1-2 days before the exam and on any day of the week.

For candidates who registered for the paper-based IELTS test after March 29th, the test center will contact them to inform them of alternative options, including: free conversion to the computer-based IELTS test; free conversion to a paper-based IELTS test on a later date; or a full refund of the test fee.

According to the British Council, computer-based testing aligns with current trends, creating a more professional testing environment, allowing candidates to easily manage their time, saving waiting time, and providing timely support for their study, work, and settlement plans.

The computer-based test format will be exactly the same as the paper-based test in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), ensuring fairness and accuracy.

In addition, candidates will receive their results within approximately two days.

In particular, when taking the test on a computer, candidates can retake any skill – listening, speaking, reading, or writing – to improve their score, minimizing costs and time compared to retaking the entire test.

IELTS is the world's most popular English proficiency test for postgraduate studies and global immigration. Over 12,500 organizations worldwide use IELTS, including educational institutions, employers, and governments.

Currently, more than 11,000 companies, organizations, and universities worldwide recognize this test.

In many countries, such as Australia, the UK, and New Zealand, IELTS has become a mandatory requirement, and a high IELTS score is a significant advantage for obtaining citizenship.

Previously, several organizations co-organizing IELTS tests in Malaysia and Thailand also discontinued paper-based IELTS testing nationwide or only for certain groups of people from March 2024.

These changes were made to improve and ensure the efficiency and management of the exams, adapting them to the specific circumstances in these countries.
