One of the oldest known football games is cuju, a game played in China during the Han Dynasty (206 BC to AD 220). In cuju, two teams of 16 players each play against each other. The object of the game is to score goals into the opponent's goal by kicking the ball with the feet or head.

Volleyball

One of the oldest known volleyball games is tlachtli, a game played by the Aztecs in Mexico as early as the 14th century. In tlachtli, two opposing teams attempt to score points by hitting a ball through a rectangular groove.

Invented by William G. Morgan, a physical education teacher in Holyoke, Massachusetts, USA. In 1895, Morgan created a new game to help his students stay warm during the winter. The game was called “mintonette,” and it quickly became popular. Morgan wrote down 12 basic rules for the game of volleyball. These rules included rules about the size of the playing field, the size of the ball, the number of players on each team, and how points were scored.

Volleyball quickly spread throughout the United States and the world. In 1900, the American Volleyball Union (AAU) was formed. The AAU was the governing body for volleyball in the United States until 1965.

In 1947, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) was founded. FIVB is the governing body of volleyball worldwide.

Today, volleyball is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is played in more than 200 countries and has more than 900 million regular players. Volleyball is the fifth most watched sport in the world, with major tournaments such as the World Volleyball Championship and the Olympics attracting billions of viewers worldwide.

Ping pong
