A flag-lined road in Yen Dinh commune.
Before the "historic day" when the two-tiered local government officially came into operation (July 1, 2025), Mr. Nguyen Van Chinh, Head of Street 9, Dong Son Ward (now Hac Thanh Ward), announced early on via loudspeaker for households to hang the national flag in front of their houses. Hundreds of households in the street simultaneously hung flags, decorating the streets brightly.
Hanging flags has become a regular practice for households in the neighborhood, especially during celebrations of national, provincial, and local holidays, anniversaries, and important events. The flags are always carefully preserved by the households to ensure their colors remain vibrant and the flags are always flat when hung.
As a resident living on Le Phu Street in Hac Thanh Ward, Ms. Doan Thi Thao expressed her joy about the national flag display in her neighborhood: "When the neighborhood officials promoted the display of the national flag, not only my family but all the households around here agreed and supported it. The households contributed money to buy flags and flagpoles to ensure they were displayed correctly, aesthetically, and uniformly."
Along the inter-village roads of Thieu Hoa commune, the red color of the national flag and banners abounds. The flags are displayed prominently by households in the commune, contributing to the beautification of the rural landscape. Tran Van Viet, Secretary of the Party Branch of Doan Quyet Thuong village, said: “Many roads in the village have been widened, and the flags are displayed in the same locations. On the main road of the village alone, 34 households donated nearly 1,600 square meters to widen the road from 2.5 meters to over 5 meters. Now, the roads are clear, and households have tidied up their houses, gardens, and fences, making the flag display more beautiful. Whenever there is an event, households simultaneously display flags. I and the village officials take the opportunity to inspect the roads, reminding households whose flags are not neatly hung or whose flags are blown by the wind to tidy them up… Looking at the rows of flags and the vibrant flag-lined roads also uplifts our spirits and gives us more motivation to work and strive.”
In Ve Thon village, Dinh Tan commune, the village Party Secretary Trinh Dinh Van shared: “For a long time, people have been hanging flags on major national holidays, but this has not been done systematically or uniformly across households and streets, thus failing to meet the requirements for aesthetics and solemnity on important holidays. Based on this reality, the village has mobilized households to contribute money to buy flags and flagpoles and hang them all simultaneously. During the implementation process, the Fatherland Front and other mass organizations in the village have been the core force in disseminating information, mobilizing support, and directly supervising and inspecting to ensure that the flag displays are done correctly according to the plan.”
Thanks to the concerted efforts of the government and the people, for many years, "National Flag Streets" have been established in streets and villages. This is especially true during the period of building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, and civilized urban areas. This is considered one of the successful "people mobilization" models that various organizations are interested in and coordinate in implementing. The display of the national flag has contributed to educating patriotism among the people, union members, and association members.
The colors of the flag add vibrancy, evoking love and national pride. Living in a time of peace and increasing progress, each of us, when walking along streets lined with the national flag, and witnessing the red flag with a yellow star fluttering in the wind, cannot help but feel moved and emotional. These red flags with yellow stars remind the people of patriotism, revolutionary traditions, and the great sacrifices of our ancestors so that today's generation can enjoy a prosperous and happy life.
