Tuchel apologizes to Jude Bellingham

England's head coach has publicly apologized to Jude Bellingham after using controversial language about the Real Madrid midfielder's behavior.

Coach Thomas Tuchel proactively contacted midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Speaking to Sky Sports , manager Tuchel admitted he would speak privately with Bellingham: "I used the word 'disgusting' to describe Jude unintentionally. I want to make it clear that I had no intention of sending any message or hinting at anything."

Back in June, coach Tuchel revealed the differing opinions he and his mother had about Jude Bellingham's on-field behavior: "Many of Jude's actions can provoke a negative reaction. I see this through my family, especially my mother. Sometimes you see Bellingham angry, and it makes my mother feel disgusted by some of his behavior on the pitch."

Tuchel's comments about Bellingham at the time caused a major controversy, leading many fans to criticize the England midfielder. The German coach emphasized his responsibility for the negative media reaction surrounding his player: "I apologize. I fully understand that I created this. I apologize for those statements."

Bellingham is included in the England squad preparing to face Andorra and Serbia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers next month. England currently leads Group K of the European qualifying round with three wins out of three matches against Albania, Latvia, and Andorra.
