The film "The Sleeping City" revolves around Tao, a 26-year-old man living alone in the bustling, prosperous city center. One day, a gang of thugs brings a prostitute to hide in the abandoned building where Tao lives. The young man is bullied and abused by the gang, beginning to experience drastic psychological changes.

The lead role in the film was given to Quoc Toan. Although director Luong Dinh Dung really liked Quoc Toan's handsome and innocent face, he rejected him many times, even refusing to continue the casting process.

“Once, Quoc Toan sent me a video , and I watched it again and saw his spirit. I called Toan and asked, ‘Are you determined yet?’ Toan said, ‘I will do better than you think.’ I liked that,” director Luong Dinh Dung recounted.

The director also revealed that the film was shot in just 10 days with a budget of $30,000 (over 700 million VND). This is a record-low production budget that surprised many for a feature film.
