However, these agencies all noted an increasing number of flight delays and cancellations at Vietnamese airports, causing considerable frustration for passengers. Considering on-time performance as a key factor in customer experience, AirHelp's survey results accurately reflect this reality.

According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, in the first six months of 2025, the average on-time performance rate for the entire industry reached 62.6%, a decrease of 13.1 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024. Specifically, Bamboo Airways had an average on-time performance rate of 81%; Pacific Airlines 80.2%; VASCO 78%; Vietnam Airlines 71%; Vietravel Airlines 67.7%; and Vietjet Air 50.6%. In the first six months of 2025, domestic airlines canceled 844 flights, equivalent to a rate of 0.6%, an increase of 0.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
According to Ms. Kim Ngan, Deputy Director of Noi Bai International Airport, flight delays are mainly due to airline operational issues, accounting for 93.8%; delays due to weather conditions only account for 1.8%; the remaining delays are due to reasons such as airport service equipment and air traffic control. Currently, Noi Bai International Airport is actively coordinating with airlines and ground handling units to implement comprehensive solutions to improve the on-time flight rate in the future.
Specifically, optimizing air traffic control using new technology (A-CDM model) has enabled relevant units at the airport to proactively coordinate decision-making, share information, and effectively utilize flight data to ensure operations comply with established procedures; it also helps to efficiently coordinate the use of runways and aprons, minimize waiting times on the ground, and contribute to improving the on-time performance of flights.

Airports are also continuing to coordinate to implement the Level 3 multi-node air traffic flow management method in Vietnam, thereby minimizing the number of flights having to circle when affected by adverse operating conditions such as weather, military flight operations, and economic and political events in the country.
Mr. Uong Viet Dung, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said that the agency compiles monthly statistics on the on-time performance rate of domestic Vietnamese airlines. The Authority has instructed airlines to pay special attention during peak travel periods, planning to increase flights and operating frequencies during off-peak hours and nighttime hours; minimizing delays and cancellations; and maintaining and improving passenger service quality.
Regarding passenger complaints about excessively long immigration times affecting the experience of international tourists visiting Vietnam, information from Vietnamese airports indicates that passport control and entry stamping are handled by border police, while baggage screening is done by border customs. During off-peak hours, immigration is processed quickly; however, during peak hours, with many international flights landing consecutively, immigration queues can be lengthy. Airports only intervene when there are complaints or feedback from passengers or through monitoring and surveillance channels.
