As one of the pioneering flower growers in the area, Mr. Thanh happily shared: In 2018, his family borrowed 400 million VND from the City's Agricultural Promotion Fund to grow lilies, and repaid the debt on time in 2020. In September 2022, he developed a plan to plant 50,000 lily plants and received a loan of 400 million VND from the Fund, which he has now fully repaid.

"Thanks to timely funding from the Agricultural Promotion Fund, I have more motivation to expand production. In recent years (2021 - 2023), I have made a profit every year from growing lilies," said Mr. Thanh.

Mr. Thanh owns four flower gardens covering more than one acre, and is a reputable flower supplier in Hanoi and several neighboring provinces. He cultivates over 20 varieties of flowers, from cut flowers (lilies, chrysanthemums, trumpet lilies, etc.) to potted plants, hanging baskets, decorative flowers, flower beds, and grafted flowers, averaging 2,000 to 10,000 pots of each type. All production takes place in greenhouses and net houses, resulting in high productivity and quality, generating an annual income of over 1 billion VND.

“Although there are many accessible loan channels, I consider the Agricultural Extension Fund to be a reliable support for production development, because the loan amount and term are suitable for the scale of my family's production. During the loan application process, I also received dedicated guidance from the staff of the Phuc Tho Agricultural Extension Station (now the Phuc Tho District Agricultural Service Center). Even better, there are always agricultural extension officers on hand to provide advice, from garden and farm design to purchasing seedlings and cultivation techniques,” said Mr. Thanh.

When asked about the production and business situation in 2024, especially the flower crop for the Lunar New Year market in 2025, Mr. Kieu Binh Thanh shared that, understanding consumer preferences, this year gardeners are growing many short-term flower varieties that are affordable for consumers; small, pretty potted flowers costing only a few tens to a few hundred thousand dong will sell more easily and consumers will buy more. For precious, long-lived flowers such as roses, camellias, orchids, etc., gardeners will continue to propagate, prune, and create high-value bonsai trees.

This year's Tet flower market will continue to focus on traditional flower varieties, hanging flowers, and flowerbeds. Potted flowers such as lucky bamboo, chrysanthemums, daisies, trailing chrysanthemums, petunias, and marigolds will also see good sales. In addition, several new flower varieties continue to be imported to meet consumer demand. At this point, not only Mr. Thanh's household but hundreds of flower growers in Tich Giang have increased the quantity and variety of flowers to serve the diverse needs of customers and people celebrating Tet.
