Vietnam U18 suffers heavy defeat against Morocco U18.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team began their journey at the 2023 Seoul U18 Cup with a match against Morocco U18. Against a very strong opponent, Vietnam U18 suffered a heavy defeat and failed to score a single goal.

In recent years, Moroccan football has developed strongly and left a significant mark on the World Cup stage. They were the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the biggest football tournament on the planet. The Moroccan youth team also boasts a very strong squad, including many players trained in Europe.

Head coach Mohammed Ouahbi has brought several names to this year's tournament, including Maamar Ali (Anderlecht, Belgium), Lekhedem Youssef (Real Madrid, Spain), Issaoui Tarek (Troyes, France), Naim Byar (Bologna, Italy), Khalifi Yassine (Lille, France), Houary Ali (Elche, Spain), and Othmane (Montpellier, France).

With such a lineup, it's no surprise that the Moroccan U18 team dominated the game right from the opening whistle. In the 10th minute, the Moroccan U18 team opened the scoring thanks to strong pressure on the Vietnamese U18 team's half of the field.

The goal greatly boosted the morale of the African representatives. They capitalized on their superior speed and technique to score three more goals in the first 45 minutes. Vietnam U18 were trailing 0-4 after the first half.

Entering the second half, coach Hoang Anh Tuan made several adjustments in both personnel and tactics. The Vietnam U18 team played much better. The red-shirted team's defense was strengthened and left fewer gaps.

However, the Vietnamese U18 attack lacked a bit more sharpness to score against their opponents. Subsequently, the Moroccan U18 team added another goal to seal a 5-0 victory.

This defeat will provide many lessons for the young players. In the next match, the Vietnam U18 team will face a team from Europe, the Ukraine U18 team.
