According to a report by We Market Research, the AI market in the hospitality industry was valued at $90 million in 2022 and is expected to reach $8.12 billion by 2033, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 60% during the forecast period.
According to experts, AI is not just a short-term technology but a long-term strategy, playing a key role in the sustainable development of the tourism industry. At the conference, many opinions proposed strategies to build a strong data platform, combining technology and human factors to enhance customer experience and optimize AI in the tourism industry, making Da Nang a smart tourism hub in the region.
AI application in three in-depth stages.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Loi, Director of Digital Transformation for Phu Long Resort & Hotel Group under SOVICO Corporation, shared that to build a smart tourism model, Da Nang's tourism industry, as well as hotels and resorts, need to implement AI applications in three in-depth stages.
This involves building an AI automation platform; enhancing customer experience through virtual assistants; and deploying specialized AI to proactively manage operations and customer care. These steps will help optimize services, improve customer experience quality, and promote outstanding yet sustainable development of Da Nang's tourism industry.
He suggested that the Da Nang government should develop and issue a digital transformation strategy for the city's tourism, focusing on the application of AI; building a smart tourism data infrastructure; encouraging experimentation for technology and tourism startups; and providing training and promotion on digital transformation and the application of AI.Mr. Pham Ngoc Loi presented at the workshop.
For the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, it is necessary to start digitizing existing data (destinations, services, events) and create an open data platform for businesses to participate; support businesses in investing in basic technology and AI; and build standards, legal frameworks, and ethical guidelines for AI.
Tourism businesses need to invest in upgrading hotel management systems, online booking systems, customer relationship management software, etc.; train staff to use new technologies and collect customer data effectively; optimize operations and business using AI; and apply AI to enhance customer experience, forecast business trends, manage human resources, predict demand, and manage energy efficiently through maintenance.
The Horecfex 2025 Da Nang – Vietnam tourism technology and innovation exhibition and forum is scheduled to take place from August 26-27 at the Ariyana International Convention Center in Da Nang.
