- In recent years, the work of developing Party members among students in high schools throughout the province has seen significant progress. Each 18-year-old Party member admitted not only replenishes the pool of young Party members but also creates motivation for students to strive, train, and mature.
As one of the units effectively implementing the work of developing Party members among students, Viet Bac High School has made a clear mark. According to our findings, from the beginning of the school year, the school's Party branch assigned the Youth Union to coordinate with homeroom teachers to monitor the learning and training process of each Youth Union member; students with outstanding achievements in academics, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and scientific research were placed under observation and nurtured for consideration by the Party committee for membership. Thanks to this approach, in just three years (2024-2026), the school's Party branch admitted 44 outstanding students into the Party; in the admission ceremony on May 19, 2026 alone, the Party branch admitted 31 outstanding students.

Hoang Gia Huy, a new Party member of the Viet Bac High School Party Branch, recalled: "Right from the start of my school year, through the Youth Union activities, my teachers informed me about the policy of nurturing and admitting students with good academic and behavioral achievements when they meet the criteria. From then on, I set goals for myself in my studies, training, and Youth Union activities. When the school's Youth Union introduced me to the Party awareness training course, I understood even more clearly the responsibilities of a Party member and continued to improve myself. Being in the ranks of the Party is an honor and a motivation for me to continue studying, living responsibly, and contributing more."
At Trang Dinh High School, the Party Branch has twice admitted outstanding students as Party members. In 2025, five students will be admitted; in 2026, an additional nine students will be admitted. Mr. Vu Manh Huy, Secretary of the Party Branch and Principal of the school, stated: Developing Party members among students is always considered an important task to build a successor force with strong political convictions, moral character, and a sense of responsibility. Therefore, along with improving the quality of teaching and learning, the school's Party Branch promotes the role of the Youth Union in identifying and nurturing outstanding members, creating an environment where students are given tasks, challenged, and their efforts are recognized before the Party Committee considers their admission.
Practical experience in schools shows that units with outstanding results share a common characteristic: proactively recruiting members from the early years of secondary school instead of waiting until grade 12 to select outstanding youth union members. Through emulation movements, volunteer activities, clubs, scientific research, cultural and artistic activities, sports , etc., students are assigned tasks, challenged, and gradually affirm their abilities and responsibilities to the collective. This also serves as a basis for the school's Party committee to monitor and evaluate the progress of each youth union member, ensuring that admission is based on their training and contributions.
According to our research, to standardize practices across the entire education sector, the Department of Education and Training annually develops plans and guidelines for high schools to implement the "Party Member at 18" model, identifying the development of party members among students as a key component of political and ideological education. Based on this, schools proactively develop plans to create a pool of potential members from the beginning of each level; assigning youth organizations and homeroom teachers to monitor students' academic progress and conduct, identifying outstanding members with excellent academic and extracurricular achievements for training and recommendation to the Party Committee for consideration of membership. Through this implementation, many schools have established procedures for early identification, training, and development of potential members, contributing to the increasingly systematic approach to developing party members among students.
The effectiveness of this approach is clearly demonstrated by the increasing number of students admitted to the Party each year. In 2024, the entire province had 71 students admitted to the Party; in 2025, this number increased to 97 students. By 2026, the entire province will have 170 outstanding students admitted to the Party, thereby continuing to supplement the source of high-quality young Party members for localities.
Today's 18-year-old Party members are the result of an effective recruitment process within each school. When the identification and nurturing of outstanding Youth Union members are carried out early and in the right direction, these "red seeds" will continue to be cultivated from the school, supplementing the locality with a source of high-quality young Party members in the coming years.
