Uruguay faced Bolivia after their 3-1 victory over Panama in their opening match. Against the weakest opponent in the group, Uruguay started confidently and quickly took the lead in the 8th minute. From a set piece, Ronald Araujo assisted Facundo Pellistri, who headed the ball into the net from close range.

In the 21st minute, Darwin Nunez doubled Uruguay's lead with a quick counter-attack. A few minutes later, his header unfortunately hit the crossbar. Uruguay's attack was very energetic, creating many good scoring opportunities but failing to capitalize on them.

In the other match in Group C, hosts USA unexpectedly lost to Panama 2-1. The main reason was Timothy Weah's red card in the 18th minute, which put the USA in a difficult position. Folarin Balogun opened the scoring for the USA in the 22nd minute, but goals from Cesar Blackman and Jose Fajardo helped Panama come from behind to win.
