The US Open has announced record prize money for 2025, with the men's and women's singles champions receiving the largest prize money ever in tennis history.
Accordingly, the ATP and WTA champions at Flushing Meadows will pocket $5,000,000, marking the first time an official event has reached the $5 million prize money mark for the champion. This represents a 39% increase from the $3.6 million that Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka received when they won the tournament in 2024. The new prize money also surpasses the $4,881,500 that Sinner earned when he won the ATP Finals in 2024, which was previously the largest prize money from a tennis tournament.

The total prize money for the 2025 US Open has increased to an astonishing $90 million, a 20% increase from $75 million in 2024. Prize money for the runners-up in both the men's and women's singles has also risen by 39%, with each receiving $2.5 million.
The significant increase applies to all singles rounds. Those eliminated in the semi-finals will earn $1.26 million, while those playing in the first round will receive $110,000. This is a potentially life-changing sum for lower-ranked players and those who qualify.
In addition, prize money for doubles events at Flushing Meadows has also increased significantly. For the first time at any Grand Slam tournament, the winning pairs in both men's and women's doubles will receive $1 million in prize money (split equally between the two players). The runner-up will be awarded $500,000, while pairs defeated in the semi-finals will still receive $250,000.
Notably, the champions of the revamped mixed doubles event, which will be held before the main draw begins, will also receive $1 million in prize money. Finalist teams will receive $400,000, and semi-finalists will receive $200,000.
