Playing away against Thanh Hoa in the 13th round of the V-League on the evening of February 24th, CAHN fielded their strongest lineup with familiar attacking stars such as Quang Hai, Van Hau, Dinh Bac, and Alan. In defense, Dinh Trong and Viet Anh guarded Filip Nguyen's goal.
Despite playing away from home, CAHN started the match confidently with the intention of launching an early attack. In the 7th minute, CAHN launched a quick counter-attack, with a long pass to Quang Hải, forcing goalkeeper Xuân Hoàng to rush out and punch the ball away. The ball rebounded right to Đình Bắc, and the U23 Vietnam national team player attempted a skillful lob, but it went wide of the goal.
After that heart-stopping moment, Thanh Hoa's defense played better and the home team gradually regained control of the game. Unexpectedly, Dinh Bac made a mistake, losing the ball in his own half. Damoth of Thanh Hoa seized the opportunity, breaking away and beating goalkeeper Filip Nguyen in a one-on-one situation.
After conceding a goal, CAHN launched an attack, forcing Thanh Hoa to defend deep. In the 36th minute, goalkeeper Xuan Hoang made an excellent diving save after Alan's close-range header. In the 45th minute, Xuan Hoang once again saved his team when defender Minh Doan headed the ball away but it went towards the goal.
In the second half, CAHN started similarly to the first but were more clinical in their finishing. In the 54th minute, the visitors were awarded a penalty after Thanh Hoa's Van Loi handled the ball following a shot from Alan. From the penalty spot, Alan himself scored past Xuan Hoang, leveling the score at 1-1 for CAHN.
The equalizer acted like a dose of doping, boosting the morale of Coach Mano Polking's players and allowing them to put more pressure on Xuan Hoang's goal. However, CAHN's next goal didn't come from inside the penalty area, but rather from a long-range shot by Van Hau.
After winning the ball in midfield, Van Hau boldly took a shot when he noticed Xuan Hoang had advanced. Unable to retreat in time, Xuan Hoang had to pick the ball out of the net for the second time, despite playing very well in the first half.
Having taken the lead, CAHN completely dominated the remainder of the match. A one-goal advantage wasn't enough to reassure coach Mano Polking, so he urged his players to continue attacking. In the 80th minute, Quang Hải made his mark with an assist for Alan to seal a 3-1 victory for the visitors.
In the final minutes, the most notable incident was Vitao's foul on Ngoc My of CAHN. The referee initially showed a red card, but after consulting VAR, he reversed the red card and replaced it with a yellow card.
With this comeback victory, CAHN solidified their position at the top of the V-League table after round 13. They are 5 points ahead of Ninh Binh and still have a game in hand.
