After successive corrections, world gold prices rose again on February 19th. At one point, the price of spot gold increased by more than $130, reaching $5,011, before narrowing to $4,982 per ounce, a 0.11% increase compared to the previous session.
Similarly, the price of silver also rose 5%, to $77 per ounce. In the previous session, silver had fallen sharply to $71 – its lowest price since the beginning of the year.
The precious metals market recovered significantly after negative signals. According to Reuters on February 18, peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Geneva, Switzerland, ended abruptly after only two hours of discussion, but neither side has shown any signs of moving closer to ending the conflict.

On the other hand, the minutes of the Federal Reserve's January meeting, released on the evening of February 18, showed that officials were almost unanimous in keeping interest rates unchanged. However, officials are at odds over the policy outlook. Some warn that interest rates could rise again if inflation remains high, while others debate whether and when further cuts are necessary.
Despite gold's volatility, analysts maintain a positive outlook on gold prices. Specifically, structural supporting factors continue to bolster gold's position.
Adrian Day, President of Adrian Day Asset Management, believes that the fundamental factors supporting gold remain intact. The issue now is that the accumulation process is slow and unstable, leading to a few short corrections.
According to Alex Kuptsikevich, senior market analyst at FxPro, gold fluctuated between $4,900 and $5,100 for most of the week, opening and closing near the midpoint of this range.
In addition, physical demand remains very high. Gold showrooms in the UK, Europe, and Asia are seeing exceptional interest. In India, gold premiums remain near their highest levels in a decade despite high prices, while seasonal demand in China has cooled somewhat.
