The traditional carpentry craft is being actively developed by the people of Kim Ngoc village, Thach Chau commune (Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province), bringing in high income and opening up opportunities for wealth creation.
For many years, Mr. Phan Cong Hien's woodworking workshop (Kim Ngoc village, Thach Chau commune) has become a familiar destination for small traders "hunting" for exquisite handcrafted furniture. His workshop offers a wide variety of products and designs to meet market demands, all of good quality.

Mr. Phan Cong Hien has over 40 years of experience in carpentry.
Carefully arranging wooden shelves of various sizes, Mr. Hien shared: "I have been a carpenter for over 40 years. Currently, my workshop covers an area of over 2,000 square meters, producing a full range of household items such as tables, chairs, cabinets, shelves, altars, etc."
Currently, we provide employment for 10 workers with salaries exceeding 15 million VND per person per month; our revenue reaches nearly 10 billion VND per year. Many families in the village have also become wealthy from carpentry."

Mr. Le Van Tuong pays meticulous attention to each product.
Near Mr. Hien's facility, at Mr. Le Van Tuong's workshop, which spans nearly 200 square meters, workers are also busy carving, assembling, and sanding finished products. Mr. Tuong said: "My family's workshop employs 4-5 workers, but sometimes we have to work overtime, even at night, to meet customer orders. On average, I receive 3-5 orders per month, mainly for tables and chairs made from various types of wood."
Right next to Mr. Tuong's workshop is a carpentry workshop owned by Mr. Phan Cong Suu, who has decades of experience in the trade. Mr. Suu shared: "In the last two years, the production and consumption of wooden products in Kim Ngoc village have been quite stable. To apply technology to production, I have invested hundreds of millions of dong in machinery to reduce workload, save time, and produce diverse, sophisticated designs at more competitive prices. My workshop achieves a profit of over 500 million dong per year, creating jobs for 4 permanent workers with an income of 7 million dong per person per month."

Machines help reduce workload and save time.
According to local residents, consumer trends have changed significantly. Previously, price was the top priority for customers, but now they are more concerned with the versatility and design of the product. Therefore, businesses not only focus on producing a large quantity of products but also continuously update and create new designs to suit consumer tastes.
The target customers of Kim Ngoc carpentry village are now not only in the affordable market segment but also include high-income consumers both within and outside the province.

Workers are rushing to complete orders on time.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huy (Loc Ha town) said: “My family has just finished building a new house, so I'm looking at prices and designs for a living room furniture set. The quality of wooden products in Kim Ngoc village is well-known far and wide, so I feel very confident choosing furniture from here.”
With this new direction, in recent years, the carpentry trade in Kim Ngoc village has been maintained and is increasingly developing and expanding. Currently, Thach Chau commune has more than 12 carpentry workshops, with an average revenue of 1-1.2 billion VND per establishment; providing employment for hundreds of workers, with main carpenters earning 10-15 million VND/month and assistant carpenters earning 4-5 million VND/month.
The traditional carpentry craft has opened up opportunities for many households in Kim Ngoc village in particular and Thach Chau commune in general to increase their income and improve their living standards. Currently, the average per capita income of the commune reaches 46.4 million VND/year.
