" Hanoi FC's goal remains unchanged. It is to maintain our ambition to reach continental heights, while still focusing on systematic investment to ensure our leading position in the domestic league. We always strive for the highest goal, because finishing second is also a failure," said Hanoi FC President Do Vinh Quang at the event announcing the team's sponsor this morning, October 19th.
The V-League 2023/2024 kicks off this weekend. However, Hanoi FC's season began last month when the capital city team participated in the AFC Champions League – their first appearance in the group stage. Coach Bozidar Bandovic has parted ways with the team, and assistant coach Le Duc Tuan has been assigned the task of temporarily leading the reigning V-League runner-up club. Entering the new season with many difficulties, captain Nguyen Van Quyet affirmed that he and his teammates remain determined and will strive their best with the mindset of aiming for the highest goals.
Hanoi FC Chairman Do Vinh Quang added: "With extremely serious preparation, Hanoi FC was fortunate to have the opportunity to compete against the strongest opponents in the Asian region, and these valuable experiences will help the club gain important experience to improve its professional quality and enhance the team's image on the international stage. Despite facing high-level opponents, the players showed a determined spirit and never gave up until the very last minute."
Hanoi FC is the representative of Vietnamese football competing in the AFC Champions League.
The 2023 V-League season was unsuccessful for Hanoi FC. The capital city team narrowly missed out on the championship due to being inferior to Hanoi Police FC on goal difference. In the National Cup, they also failed to reach the final.
Hanoi FC has undergone many changes ahead of the 2023/2024 season. The capital city team has recruited several foreign players, including striker Joel Tagueu, who impressed in the first two matches of the AFC Champions League. In addition, Pham Xuan Manh and Nguyen Van Hoang are also notable new additions to Hanoi FC.
