The railway industry started selling train tickets for the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) 2026 from September 20th, with prices increasing by 5-10% compared to last year, the highest being for the Saigon - Hanoi route at over 3.7 million VND.
For air travel, the peak period lasted from February 2nd to March 3rd, 2026 (i.e., from the 15th day of the 12th lunar month to the 15th day of the 1st lunar month), with a total of over 3.5 million seats sold across the entire domestic and international flight network, an increase of nearly 20% compared to the same period last year.
Airlines recommend that passengers proactively plan and book tickets early to ensure a suitable itinerary, and also advise purchasing tickets only through official ticket offices, agents, or on the airline's mobile app or website to avoid the risk of counterfeit tickets or inflated prices during peak seasons.
