As summer 2025 approaches, with students enjoying a break for rest, recreation, and learning within their families and communities, Uong Bi City has promptly adjusted and implemented appropriate activities to protect, care for, and educate children. The locality emphasizes the role of the community and leverages social resources for children.

Trung Vuong, Nam Khe, Phuong Dong, Phuong Nam, Yen Thanh, Thuong Yen Cong, and Vang Danh are considered suburban areas of Uong Bi City. Children here are closely connected to community activities, familiar with the hilly and riverine terrain, and enjoy folk games, cultural activities, and traditional sports . Recognizing this unique characteristic, the communes, wards, organizations at the village and neighborhood levels, and businesses operating in the area work together to care for and create an attractive and meaningful environment for children to play and participate in activities.

Trung Vuong Ward (Uong Bi City) organized a gift-giving ceremony for children with outstanding achievements during the launching ceremony of the 2025 Action Month for Children.

Ms. Pham Thi Hoai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Vuong Ward, said: "At the ward level, we promptly implemented activities to receive students from school back to the locality, launched the Month of Action for Children early, planned and assigned specific tasks and responsibilities to organizations and individuals to accompany children during the summer months. The aim is to extend the time children can participate in activities in their villages and neighborhoods, reduce academic pressure, and enjoy meaningful play. This is also a way for us to highlight and promote the role of the community in supporting children…"

In Dien Cong 1, 2, and 3 hamlets of Trung Vuong ward, where a significant portion of the population relies on river-related livelihoods, local authorities and organizations have urgently coordinated to open swimming classes and encourage families to enroll their children, establish football teams, and organize regular training sessions. Mr. Le Van Vinh (Dien Cong 3 hamlet) stated: "Most children in Dien Cong learn to swim early, but that doesn't mean swimming classes are unnecessary. These classes help children develop proper swimming and diving skills, provide a place for them to play and hone their abilities, and even serve as training grounds to improve their skills. This will help those with talent and physical fitness to participate in school swimming competitions and other open swimming competitions later on."

In Vang Danh ward, the majority of children are the offspring of miners. They participate in recreational activities during the summer organized by Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, as well as activities within their neighborhoods. Vang Danh ward and its neighborhoods maintain close ties with Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, working together to create activities that care for the children living in the area. Thanks to this approach, Vang Danh is a model locality that excels in caring for disadvantaged children, aiming to ensure that every child has beautiful childhood memories and that no child is left behind.

Unlike the aforementioned localities, Thanh Son ward is located in the urban center of Uong Bi City. Taking advantage of this strength, one of the summer activities promoted by the ward is the effort to encourage and connect children in the area with and encourage their participation in summer courses and classes, as well as vibrant clubs. These include classes in dance, music, singing, MC skills, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, lion dance clubs, choir groups, and outdoor dance groups.

Children in Uong Bi City participated in a cultural performance at the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Children and the opening of the summer of 2025.

As an area with many businesses operating, and under the coordination of the local government, many businesses have proactively implemented activities to reward children with outstanding achievements, give gifts to underprivileged children who overcome difficulties, sponsor children, support educational and medical expenses for children who have lost their caregivers or are facing unexpected difficulties, and participate in activities to help children continue their education... During the recent launch ceremony of the 2025 Action Month for Children, units and businesses commended, rewarded, and supported dozens of children, contributing to spreading the spirit of caring for, educating , and protecting children in the community.

Driven by a shared commitment to caring for children, Uong Bi City now receives support from agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals in the area in the form of cash and in-kind donations worth 400-500 million VND each year. This resource is used for practical assistance, making a significant contribution to achieving the goals and plans for protecting and caring for children in particularly difficult circumstances, children of war invalids and martyrs, orphans, disabled children, and children from impoverished households. Many other meaningful activities help these children overcome feelings of inferiority and hardship, creating motivation for them to excel in their studies and achieve holistic development.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Uong Bi City, affirmed: Uong Bi City is currently continuing to strengthen communication to children on knowledge and skills related to child protection in drug prevention, traffic safety, injury prevention, and especially drowning prevention; equipping children with life skills and self-protection skills; building a safe family and community environment for children; identifying unsafe factors and risks that harm children in order to take corrective and elimination measures... Especially in the context of the elimination of district-level administrations from July 1st, the newly formed wards will continue to closely manage students' activities in residential areas and hand them back to school, preparing well for children to enter the new school year.
