In recent years, Apple has added a feature that allows many iPhone models to continue transmitting location signals even when the device is turned off or the battery is depleted. This is part of the Find My network, a system that helps users locate lost iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, or other devices.

This feature is available on iPhone models from the iPhone 11 series and later.

The secret lies in a mechanism called Power Reserve. When the battery level drops to extremely low, the iPhone doesn't use all of its remaining energy to keep the operating system running. Instead, the device reserves some energy for critical tasks.

Users will not be able to turn on the screen or use the phone normally. However, some hardware components will continue to operate in ultra-low power mode. In this state, the iPhone functions almost like an AirTag.
