At Phan Thiet Civil Airport, a record has just been set: in just 5 months, from the time the investment policy was approved in December 2025 to the official approval of the investor on March 4, 2026, all procedures were completed at lightning speed to move towards the commencement of the project. Sun Group is committed to completing it in a record time: 2 years.
Concerned about the potential of Mui Ne.
The Phan Thiet airport project has been planned and studied since 2014. After more than a decade of ups and downs, the project once stalled, seemingly an unsolvable problem.
With the vision of being a leading tourism developer, Sun Group has spent many years researching, observing, and thoroughly evaluating the geography, tourism potential, and development opportunities of this region.

Phan Thiet - Mui Ne, once known as the tourism capital, boasts stunning beaches and unique natural landscapes, serving as a crucial gateway for trade in the South Central region. Following administrative reorganization, Phan Thiet became part of Lam Dong province, creating unprecedented potential for regional economic development.
However, to unlock these potential "gold mines," Lam Dong needs a truly world-class air connectivity infrastructure. The speed of project implementation is the clearest evidence of meticulous preparation and a forward-thinking vision.
Sharing their vision for this project, the Group's leadership affirmed that Phan Thiet Airport is not just an infrastructure project, but also the starting point for a large-scale tourism-resort-aviation ecosystem that Sun Group aims to create, contributing to the formation of a new development space and enhancing investment attraction for the entire region.
"With experience from Van Don and Phu Quoc, we are deeply aware of our responsibility to the local people, to Lam Dong province, as well as to the country's tourism development orientation," said Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sun Group.

The profit-and-responsibility dilemma
Investing in aviation infrastructure is considered a high-risk, long-term "game." If only looking at short-term financial figures, perhaps no private enterprise would dare venture into a sector once considered a "monopoly" of the state sector.

Evaluating this strategy, many experts believe that the Group's investment in airports such as Van Don, Phu Quoc, and Phan Thiet demonstrates a forward-thinking management approach.
Investors don't wait for existing infrastructure to develop; instead, they create their own infrastructure to attract tourists. This type of investment creates momentum, accepting short-term risks in exchange for sustainable development for an entire economic region.
For the Group, investing in Phan Thiet Airport is primarily about fulfilling social responsibility. This is a typical dual-use airport model, harmoniously combining economic development with national defense and security.
The ultimate goal is not to collect infrastructure fees, but to create a massive "lever" to boost logistics, develop tourism, and create thousands of jobs for the people. This is how the philosophy of "beautifying the land" that brought success to this giant corporation in Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Quang Ninh, and other locations is being realized.
Complete the ecosystem
Phan Thiet Airport is the third "piece" in Sun Group's nationwide airport map. It's not a standalone project, but a crucial link in completing a large-scale "Tourism - Resort - Aviation" ecosystem.

This strategy aims to create a closed-loop experience cycle. By combining high-end resort brands and Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA), the Group is building an "air silk road" connecting key international markets directly to the coasts across Vietnam.

Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment in high technology. On the morning of June 26th, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung received Mr. Jeff Place, Supply Chain Director of Coherent Group (USA). During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment, especially in high-tech, innovation, and semiconductor industries. At the groundbreaking ceremony for Phan Thiet International Airport, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh emphasized the importance of the project and the role of the investor: "The construction of the project must comply with national technical standards and regulations and international aviation standards... There must be no compromise on quality and safety for any reason."
At the same time, the Minister requested the local authorities to study the spatial planning for urban development and logistics around the airport to maximize the advantages of the project. This also serves as motivation for the Group to prepare for its journey to create a new miracle in the South Central Vietnam resort paradise.
When the runway officially extends in 2027, Phan Thiet will no longer be a "sleeping princess in the forest." Tourists from all over Vietnam will flock here, and visitors from all over the world will also come to Phan Thiet.
By investing in infrastructure not for immediate profit, Sun Group is building a launching pad for Vietnamese tourism to truly take off, in line with the developer's aspiration to elevate the nation's position on the global tourism map.
Located in Mui Ne ward, the Phan Thiet Civil Airport project has a total investment of over 3,900 billion VND, covers an area of nearly 75 hectares, and is planned according to 4E standards - a level allowing the operation of modern wide-body aircraft, with a designed capacity of approximately 2 million passengers per year in phase 1.
