The ChatDST launch broadcast is currently unavailable. |
On July 14th, Pham Minh Huu Tien (Pharmacist Tien) held a press conference titled "Proud of Vietnam" in Ho Chi Minh City to launch products and tools in the beauty industry. The event was broadcast live on his YouTube channel, which has over 600,000 subscribers. Following the event, Pharmacist Tien's announcement of developing the AI chatbot ChatDST, claiming it would be "better than ChatGPT," attracted attention and sparked debate.
However, the aforementioned broadcast is no longer available on the platform. According to the video streaming link, YouTube now displays the message, "Video unavailable. This is a private video." It is unclear whether the content was hidden by Pharmacist Tiến's team or due to the application's scanning process.
Besides the broadcast video, which is no longer available, short clips cut from the aforementioned program still remain on Pham Minh Huu Tien's media channels.
Following his shocking claims that his AI was better than ChatGPT, Pham Huu Minh Tien faced skepticism and strong backlash from the community. In Vietnamese communities researching and sharing AI methods, numerous posts appeared analyzing and arguing that the aforementioned ChatDST solution was not feasible.

Right below the posts promoting the aforementioned product by Pharmacist Tien, there was also skepticism from users. "This chat system will probably have a 30-second delay per command because you have to copy and paste the results for the customer," commented user P.Đ.K.
Furthermore, the expertise of the application development team is also being seriously questioned. Previously, Pharmacist Tien worked in the fields of chemistry, cosmetics, and entertainment program production, which had no connection to technology. Meanwhile, building AI and large-scale language models is a specialized field that requires significant resources and a long development time.
On the other hand, many users reacted negatively because Pharmacist Tien had previously posted several videos explaining the Kera vegetable candy product, which contained information that did not match the findings of the authorities' investigation.
The information presented at the ChatDST presentation was vague and largely unverified. For example, Mr. Tien stated that the chatbot was built on the Llama platform with 403 billion "neurons." However, the correct unit of measurement is "parameters." Furthermore, Llama only has a version with 405 billion parameters; there is no 403 billion option as mentioned.
Mr. Tien claimed his product was better than ChatGPT thanks to its 960 GB of memory, "double" the competitor's 480 GB, achieved through a server using nine Nvidia A100 80 GB GPUs. However, aggregated reports from The Information reveal that ChatGPT will use at least 290,000 such cards starting in 2024. Furthermore, achieving a speed of 2,000 tokens per second with such a system is also impossible.
On the other hand, in response to Tri Thuc - ZNews , a representative of Nvidia's exclusive distributor stated that they do not sell A100 cards in Vietnam. Therefore, it is unclear how Pharmacist Tien acquired the aforementioned server. Despite the conflicting opinions, Pham Minh Huu Tien still insists that his product is as advertised and will launch in October.
