The Myanmar team is ready.
"The Myanmar team will aim for victory in the final group stage match. The match against Vietnam will be very difficult because the opponent is strong, but we have prepared. This is a crucial showdown between the two teams," Myanmar coach Myo Hlaing Win shared before the final group stage match of the AFF Cup, which takes place at 8 PM on December 21st.
After 3 matches, the Myanmar team has 4 points. Coach Myo Hlaing Win's team won against Laos (3-2), drew with the Philippines (1-1), and lost to Indonesia (0-1). To reach the semi-finals, Myanmar must win against Vietnam and then hope for a favorable result in the Indonesia vs. Philippines match. In the event that Indonesia wins against the Philippines, Myanmar must win against Vietnam by 2 goals to guarantee a place in the next round.
The Vietnamese national team (in red jerseys) will play Myanmar in the final match.
Coach Myo Hlaing Win emphasized: "With the support of the home crowd, we secured a victory against Laos. This has given the whole team confidence. I also hope my players will have the same spirit tomorrow. I want to thank my players for the spirit they showed on the field in the match against Laos. We will prepare thoroughly for tomorrow's game."
The match against Myanmar will be Nguyen Xuan Son's debut for the Vietnamese national team. However, Myo Hlaing Win emphasized that the Vietnamese team has many good players, not just Xuan Son. "Myanmar is not focusing on any individual player, but on the entire Vietnamese team. Tomorrow will be an interesting match," the Myanmar coach commented.
The Myanmar team will be without captain Maung Maung Lwin in the match against Vietnam. Maung Maung Lwin, along with Aung Thu, are among the few experienced players in the Myanmar national team in recent years, but even without the number 11 in the lineup, coach Myo Hlaing Win is not worried.
Xuan Son is about to take to the field, ready to shine in the match against Myanmar.
"We have prepared for tomorrow, and we have alternative options for our number 11 player. Our number 11 player is very important, but unfortunately, he is absent. We want three points, and we believe that with effort, the Myanmar team can achieve this," the Myanmar coach affirmed.
Myo Hlaing Win concluded: "The teams participating in the tournament aim for the championship. The Vietnamese team is the strongest in this tournament. I think they can win the championship."
