Vietnam, a thousand miles away, so dear to my heart.

(PLVN) - In recent years, young Vietnamese people have shown a tendency to return to their homeland and roots. Instead of going on "outdoor" tours, young people now choose to explore the beautiful cultural and natural sites of Vietnam.

My hometown is beautiful everywhere I go.

With the development of Vietnam's tourism industry, numerous attractive destinations have been meticulously and systematically invested in, making them no longer boring for young tourists.

Nguyen Thuy Hang (30 years old, living in Long Bien, Hanoi) said that her job is very busy, so she usually prioritizes domestic travel. Thuy Hang shared: “Every year, provinces and localities have new and attractive tourism products. To explore all the beauty of Vietnam, I don't know how long it would take.” During the year, she chooses short trips to destinations near Hanoi such as Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Moc Chau, and Lao Cai for trekking, camping, or simply relaxing and unwinding. On major holidays, such as Lunar New Year and New Year's Day, she will go to more distant beaches like Phu Quoc, Phu Quy, and Ly Son to change the atmosphere and participate in attractive tourist activities.

Having traveled to over 20 countries around the world , Dinh Thi Thu Hien (40 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City) shared that the S-shaped land of Vietnam holds a great appeal for young, travel-loving people like her: “Vietnam is beautiful in every season. Each season has its own unique charm and different suitable destinations. With diverse and attractive tourism products, visitors can return many times to explore.” Hien said that every winter, she goes to Ha Giang to chase clouds and admire the mountains, or to Sa Pa, Moc Chau, and Tam Dao. In 2025 alone, Hien went to Moc Chau twice. The first time, she participated in a trail running race before the Lunar New Year. In February, when the plum blossoms bloomed profusely, she went again, both for relaxation, camping, and to admire the flowers and take photos. This coming April, Hien plans to visit Moc Chau for the third time to enjoy the first ripe plums of the season in the orchards.

Tran Anh Tuan (29 years old, Ha Nam) has a passion for food, and he says that travel and cuisine are his two biggest hobbies. Tuan says: "I've traveled to about 10 countries around the world, but nowhere are the dishes as flavorful and fresh as in Vietnam." He particularly loves Central Vietnamese cuisine, especially the fragrant, slightly spicy dishes of Hue, which are rich in royal court flavors. He also enjoys Hoi An (Quang Nam) and Da Nang, which have a fascinating "map" of street food featuring a mix of European and Asian dishes.

Every time Anh Tuan returns to his favorite food destinations, he discovers new dishes. For example, in Hue, even with just a few basic dishes like lotus seed sweet soup, mung bean sweet soup, and roasted pork sweet soup, each stall offers a different flavor. Besides traditional eateries, many new sweet soup stalls run by younger generations now combine traditional and modern flavors.

In fact, it's clear that Vietnamese tourism is now on par with international tourism. Vietnamese tourism products are diverse, catering to the needs of many different customer segments. From secluded, private resorts costing tens of millions of VND per night, to adventurous trips exploring deep forests, zip-lining across waterfalls, and scuba diving lasting only a few hours or days, offering novel experiences for young travelers. Especially, there are budget-friendly tours, backpacking trips, homestays, or camping trips suitable for students.

Therefore, Vietnamese tourism not only attracts international visitors but also receives the love of domestic tourists, a large proportion of whom are young people aged 20-45. Thanks to these trips to explore the country, the younger generation has enriched their knowledge of Vietnamese culture and history. At the same time, it spreads the love of nature, the country, and its people among Gen Z.

Excited to visit tourist cities during major holidays.

Nguyen Thuy Hang shared that she canceled her trip to Japan in September to be with her family during this year's September 2nd holiday. She confided: “This year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2nd, 1945 - September 2nd, 2025), promising many exciting activities. My friends in other provinces and cities are all trying to book plane, train, and bus tickets early to prepare to come to Hanoi for these major anniversaries in the near future.”

This year, Tran Anh Tuan will be visiting Hanoi for two major holidays: April 30th - May 1st and September 2nd. He has already booked his bus tickets and hotel in advance to secure his spot. Civil servants, public employees, and workers in administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have 5 days off for the April 30th - May 1st holidays; and 4 days off for National Day 2025. With such a long holiday period, he can explore Hanoi, reunite with old friends, enjoy local cuisine, and attend exciting events during the holidays.

In 2025, Vietnam has many major anniversaries, such as the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); the 135th anniversary of the birth of beloved President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025); and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025). These are all round years and odd years ending in 5, often marked by numerous attractive programs, events, and activities meticulously organized by the Party and State to serve the people.

According to the plan, the parade will go through three important stages: a preliminary rehearsal on April 25th, a general rehearsal on April 27th, and the official parade on the morning of April 30th, 2025. The parade contingent will start at 8:00 AM from the beginning of Le Duan Street (the main gate of the Saigon Zoo), proceeding straight towards the Reunification Hall. Upon reaching Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, the contingent will split into two directions: half will turn right, moving along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and assembling at Hoa Lu Stadium; the other half will turn left, heading towards Ham Nghi Street, ending and assembling in the Ton Duc Thang Street area. The total number of personnel mobilized for this year's parade is estimated at approximately 13,120 people, creating one of the largest scales ever for anniversaries.

Although the holiday is still almost a month away, information about events and activities on April 30th - May 1st has already garnered significant public attention. Many families and individuals have even planned to find good spots to watch the parade and march.

Therefore, in the coming period, tourism in major cities during these holidays will be very busy, attracting both domestic and international tourists. With the 5-day April 30th - May 1st holiday approaching, the demand for air travel is increasing sharply, causing ticket prices on many domestic flights to rise, and some flights are even fully booked during peak hours.

According to the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority, during the April 30th - May 1st holiday period, domestic airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights, averaging 685 flights per day, a 24% increase compared to the normal flight schedule. The total number of seats offered will reach approximately 1.5 million, a 20% increase compared to the plan before the increased flights.

Of these, flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City accounted for the largest proportion with 5,083 flights, providing 1.03 million seats, a 21% increase compared to the same period last year. In particular, on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route alone, airlines are expected to operate 1,261 flights, providing 305,000 seats, an increase of 7-11% compared to last year. To avoid congestion and delays, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has increased the coordination parameters at Tan Son Nhat Airport to 46 flights/hour during the day and 36 flights/hour at night.
