(HNMO) - On June 8th, the penultimate day of competition at the 12th ASEAN Para Games, the Vietnamese delegation competed in swimming, chess, table tennis, 7-a-side football, and other sports .
On June 8th, Vietnamese swimmers excellently brought home an additional 7 medals, including 3 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze.
In the men's events, swimmer Danh Hoa continued his outstanding performance in the 100m freestyle S4 disability category, winning a gold medal and setting a new ASEAN Para Games record (1 minute 36 seconds 23). To date, Danh Hoa is one of the athletes with the highest individual achievements in the Vietnamese swimming team, with 4 gold medals and 3 new records.
In the 50m freestyle event for disability category S8, Pham Thanh Dat won a silver medal, while Tran Van Mom won a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle event for disability category S3.
In the women's events, swimmer Trinh Thi Bich Nhu continued to shine in the 100m freestyle S6 disability category, breaking her own record of 1 minute 25 seconds 11 with a new time of 1 minute 23 seconds 77, winning the gold medal. Bich Nhu is currently the swimmer with the highest achievements at this Games with a total of 5 gold medals and 3 new records set.
In addition, the Vietnamese swimming team also won a gold medal in the men's 4x50m relay (20 points). Thus, at the end of the Games, the swimming team made a significant contribution to the Vietnamese sports delegation by winning 27 gold medals, including 6 Games records.
The Vietnamese chess team also entered the final day of competition with high determination to achieve the best results in the blitz chess event. To date, in chess, the Vietnamese delegation has won 18 medals, including 5 gold, 7 silver, and 6 bronze, ranking third overall in the chess competition.
Thus, as of 7 PM on June 8th, the Vietnamese Paralympic team had won 64 gold medals, 56 silver medals, and 74 bronze medals, ranking third.
The Indonesian Paralympic team is still leading the overall medal standings with 146 gold medals, 131 silver medals, and 88 bronze medals. The Thai team is in second place with 120 gold medals, 106 silver medals, and 83 bronze medals.
