"Continue writing the story of peace"

(GLO) - As April arrives, the highland winds seem to soften. On the coffee hillsides, clusters of young leaves are stirring and reaching upwards. The lake is silent, reflecting the sky, land, and layers of clouds of memory.

The air was gentle and bright, as if to welcome the sacred moment for the nation—the moment when, 50 years ago, the country sang a triumphant song, and the land was united as one.

On mornings like these, my heart resonates with the stirring melodies of the song "Continuing the Story of Peace " by composer Nguyen Van Chung.

I was born in peacetime, never having witnessed the bombs, death, and devastation of war… But I grew up listening to my grandmother's and father's stories of "clinging to the forest to protect the village," and the resounding sounds of gongs and drums when news of peace reached the country. I learned and read about the liberation army's marches through the mountains and forests, about the Bahnar and Jrai people carrying rice to feed the soldiers and sheltering cadres, and about the communal houses that once served as revolutionary bases.

I was born in Kbang, the homeland of Hero Núp and the revolutionary base of Krong. Therefore, even though I didn't witness it firsthand, I always feel deeply indebted to my homeland and country.

Gia Lai today is different from the past. The roads are wide, the cities are bustling, and the villages have been transformed. Amidst the red basalt soil, we, the 2000s generation, are continuing the story of our ancestors through incredibly meaningful work. This could be a startup project based on local agricultural products, a research paper on gong culture, a community tourism model…

We know that peace is not a day, but a journey. And that journey never ends. Because freedom is to be preserved, peace is to be cultivated. Our ideal is not to replicate the past, but to make the present worthy of the sacrifices of yesterday.

We believe that peace will be ingrained not only in monuments and historical records, but also in every small action each day. Like how we preserve forests, nurture saplings, keep streams cool, and teach children to express love in their mother tongue.

Today, under the canopy of the vast forest, visiting the province's revolutionary historical site in Krong commune, my heart was filled with emotion, and I silently sang the song "Continuing the Story of Peace".

These lyrics, etched deep in our hearts, are not just songs, but represent the responsibility of every young person: "Let's continue writing the story of peace together / To see our homeland bright in the dawn / To see the sunlight shining brightly as the national flag flutters / To give thanks to those who preserved the land of Dai Viet a thousand years ago."

I deeply understand that today's peace was bought with the blood of our ancestors, and therefore, it is our duty as the younger generation to preserve, cherish, and enrich this country with knowledge, compassion, and good deeds.

Read to understand yourself.
