In early July 2025, Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank ( Vietcombank ) announced the establishment of its Data Division, along with personnel decisions regarding the unit's leadership at the Head Office.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Le Quang Vinh - Member of the Board of Directors, General Director; Mr. Hong Quang - Member of the Board of Directors and Director of Human Resources; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh - Member of the Board of Directors; Ms. Phung Nguyen Hai Yen - Deputy General Director; Mr. Nguyen Danh Phuong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee in charge of Party work; Ms. Doan Hong Nhung - Director of Retail Division; Mr. Nguyen Hung Thanh - Deputy Director of IT and Digital Transformation Division; and representatives from the leadership of several related TSC units.

At the ceremony, Mr. Dang Binh Nguyen - Head of the Organization and Human Resources Department - announced the decision of the Vietcombank Board of Directors on restructuring the organizational model and establishing the Data Division, with 03 subordinate units including: Data Platform Integration Department, Data Science and Technology Center (with 02 subordinate departments: Data Technology Department and Data Science Department), and Data Management and Application Center (including 02 subordinate departments: Data Management Department and Data Analysis and Products Department).

At the same time, the decisions of the Board of Directors and the General Director of Vietcombank regarding personnel were also announced at the ceremony, specifically: Ms. Phung Nguyen Hai Yen - Deputy General Director - was assigned to concurrently hold the position of Director of the Data Division;

Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, Director of the Data and Analytics Center, is hereby transferred and appointed as Director of the Data Science and Technology Center, concurrently holding the positions of Head of Data Technology Department and Head of Data Science Department within the Data Science and Technology Center.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Data and Analytics Center, is hereby transferred and appointed to the position of Deputy Director of the Data Management and Application Center; she is assigned to be in charge of the Data Management and Application Center and concurrently holds the position of Head of the Data Analysis and Products Department within the Data Management and Application Center.

Mr. Bui Van Bang, Head of the Data Management and Reporting Department of the IT Center, is hereby transferred and appointed to the position of Deputy Head of the Data Platform Integration Department; and assigned to be in charge of the Data Integration and Platform Department.

Mr. Nguyen Thinh, Deputy Director of the Data and Analytics Center, has been transferred and appointed as Deputy Director of the Data Management and Application Center. These decisions are effective from July 9, 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank, delivered a speech at the ceremony.

In his remarks, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Chairman of the Board of Directors, stated that the establishment of the Data Division is a strategic step for Vietcombank to plan, effectively utilize, and transform data into tangible business value; aiming to become the leading sustainable digital bank in Vietnam and expand internationally.

In the context of the whole country undergoing a strong transformation towards developing a digital economy , data is not only a supporting tool, but has become a "new resource, a type of strategic asset" - clearly established in Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 and the Data Law effective from July 1, 2025.

The Data Unit has been assigned five key tasks: Building a strong foundation; supporting in-depth analysis and AI applications; developing people, technology, and processes in a synchronized manner; strictly adhering to the law; and building a culture of collaboration, innovation, and flexible adaptation.

“If data is a new resource, then Vietcombank must be the pioneer in effectively exploiting this resource to serve its long-term development strategy. That responsibility rests with those at the helm – the leaders and the team entrusted with this important task today,” shared the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietcombank.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, the newly appointed Director of the Data Science and Technology Center, delivered his acceptance speech.

On behalf of the newly appointed leaders, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, the new Director of the Data Science and Technology Center, expressed gratitude for the trust and expectations of the Board of Directors and pledged to make every effort to contribute practically to Vietcombank's sustainable development and expansion.

The new Director of the Data Center emphasized that the Data Division was established not only to shoulder technical responsibilities but also as a strategic partner of the entire system, with the mission of transforming data into valuable assets, building a common language for the entire bank, supporting decision-making and product development. This affirms Vietcombank's strong determination to transform itself, putting customers at the center and consolidating its pioneering position in the digital era.
