Vinh Tan 4: A journey to shine

In the spring of 2026 (Year of the Horse), the Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant - a branch of the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) - marked its 7th year of commercial operation, reaching a production milestone of approximately 60 billion kWh, contributing to ensuring national energy security in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.

In its initial phase, Vinh Tan 4 faced the challenge of attracting high-quality, skilled personnel to ensure the operation of the modern, large-capacity 1,800 MW thermal power plant, one of the leading in the country. The management board gradually addressed the human resource issue, prioritizing young, skilled workers from the former Binh Thuan province. Workers from distant areas who needed accommodation were provided with comfortable housing at the Bau Sam residential complex, along with transportation to and from the plant and lunch support. With stable living conditions, the staff, engineers, and workers felt secure and committed to the plant located in the sun-drenched, windy Vinh Hao commune. Currently, NM has a team of professionally trained and highly skilled operating technicians who manage and operate three coal-fired power plants (3x600MW) with modern technology and equipment mainly supplied from Japan, South Korea, and G7 countries. These plants operate automatically on an advanced control system, resulting in high efficiency and a competitive advantage in the electricity market.

Over the past two years, Vinh Tan 4 has been operating at low load levels, continuously reducing its load to 240-400 MW to prioritize renewable energy sources, yet the plant's total output has remained stable over the years. After seven years of commercial operation, by the end of 2025, Vinh Tan 4, along with its subsidiary (Phuoc Thai 1 Solar Power Plant), is expected to achieve a total output of approximately 60 billion kWh of electricity. This promising figure is thanks to the dedicated efforts of the plant's leadership and employees, who have gradually overcome difficulties and challenges to operate and produce electricity safely, integrate into the national grid, and ensure energy security, as mandated by the National Power System and Market Operation Company (NSMO).

Through its electricity production operations, over the past 7 years, Vinh Tan 4 has made a significant contribution to the state budget with more than 5,398 billion VND; ensuring the material and spiritual well-being of 602 cadres and employees, of which more than 40% are local people. The plant has also performed well in social welfare work in its operating area for many years, with a total expenditure of more than 3.7 billion VND (nearly 1 billion VND in 2025).

Entering 2026, the first stage in the "era of national progress," Vinh Tan 4 still faces difficulties due to the unstable global geopolitical situation and the unstable supply of input fuel. "With accumulated experience and building on the achievements of previous years, the Board of Directors and employees of the plant will overcome challenges together, determined to complete the 2026 production and business plan assigned by EVN with a total electricity output of 11.852 billion kWh. Vinh Tan 4 will ensure improved reliability of the generating units, be ready to meet high power demand, provide continuous and safe electricity supply, contributing to national energy security and the socio-economic development of the country in the 'era of national progress'," said Mr. Vu Thanh Hai, Director of Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant.
