- Located in a remote, mountainous area, the Lan Nong residential area (Loi village, Cai Kinh commune) has long been almost completely isolated, with 13 households and 62 people, all of whom are Nung ethnic minorities (including 11 poor households and 2 near-poor households). The road leading to the residential area is narrow, steep, and rocky, making travel extremely difficult; on rainy days, residents have to park their vehicles in the Lang Hao area (Lang Dam village, Van Linh commune) and walk home; the difficult transportation significantly affects the education of children and the socio-economic development of the village.
These days, images of officers and soldiersfrom the Provincial Military Command, the 3rd Infantry Division, and the 575th Engineering Brigade of Military Region 1, along withlocal people, are being seen working diligently, braving the sun and rain, to expand the road leading to the residential area.
Construction on the road leading to the Lan Nong residential area began in early March 2026. The project, spanning 3.5 km, traverses rugged terrain with steep mountain slopes and numerous rocky inclines, posing significant challenges to construction. Along with the support of machinery, officers and soldiers directly participated in many manual tasks, striving to speed up the construction progress. Corporal Tran Van Quyen, Battalion 17, Division 3, Military Region 1, shared: "We always strive to overcome difficulties. Although it is hard work, we are determined to complete the task and bring the road to serve the people as soon as possible." During the implementation process, the people of Lan Nong actively participated by contributing labor, logistical support, and even machinery and tools, helping to speed up the progress. To ensure continuous and timely construction, machinery is regularly inspected and maintained by officers and soldiers. The road is still under construction, but thanks to the widening and leveling, many sections are now easily accessible by motorbike, and people are very excited about having a new, more convenient road to serve socio-economic development. To encourage the officers and soldiers working on the road construction, Ms. Le Thi Dang and the residents of Lan Nong residential area visited the site to chat with them and present them with traditional sticky rice cakes (banh chung) that they had made themselves. During breaks, the cakes donated by the local people were a gift that boosted the energy of the officers and soldiers during the road construction. As of April 14, 2026, the volume of earth excavated and filled for the road to Lan Nong has reached nearly 7,000 m³, equivalent to about 40% of the progress. Currently, the construction unit is continuing to complete the groundwork; along the total length of over 3 km, there are 4 slopes, and the groundwork for 2 slopes has been completed so far. According to the project commander, it is expected that the construction force will begin pouring concrete for the road surface in mid-May 2026, striving to complete the project according to the set plan. The soldiers proceeded to compact the roadbed, level the surface, and create a form for pouring concrete for the road surface. Alongside their construction duties, officers and soldiers utilize their time and available land at their barracks to engage in self-sufficient production, ensuringlogistical support and contributing to improved troop health.
During the road construction process, officers and soldiers consistently received encouragement and support from leaders at all levels, sectors, and localities. The photo shows the head of the Provincial Military Command and leaders of the Van Linh Commune People's Committee visiting and encouraging officers and soldiers carrying out the road construction project.
Expected to be completed by the end of June 2026, with the determination and unity of officers, soldiers, and people, the road will connect Lan Nong with the outside world, making travel more convenient and creating conditions for people to develop socio-economic activities and build a prosperous and happy life.
