According to journalist Graeme Bailey, intermediaries representing Vinicius proactively contacted Manchester United to explore the possibility of a transfer. In addition, a number of European giants such as Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich were also approached regarding the possibility of signing the player.
The move comes as contract extension negotiations between the Brazilian player and Real Madrid have stalled for over 18 months. Despite the Spanish giants making a new offer, the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.
Vinicius is reportedly seeking a salary equal to Kylian Mbappe's, with a base income exceeding £500,000 per week. However, Real Madrid appears unwilling to raise their current offer, making the prospect of his departure increasingly likely.
With Vinicius' contract expiring in 2027, Real Madrid doesn't want to lose him for free. If they fail to reach an extension agreement, they may consider selling the 25-year-old star in the summer 2026 transfer window.
Conversely, Manchester United have experienced a strong resurgence under interim manager Michael Carrick, rising to third place in the Premier League and having a strong chance of qualifying for the Champions League. This is considered a crucial factor in increasing the Red Devils' attractiveness in the transfer market.
