What is VioEdu?

Launched in 2020 under the initial name VioEdu Math Arena, this platform has since expanded to include subjects such as Math, Vietnamese, English, and Math in English.

VioEdu's goal is to help students consolidate their knowledge, develop logical thinking, and create motivation for learning through online testing combined with technology.

Besides its role as an academic platform, VioEdu is also an online education platform aimed at students, parents, teachers, and schools.

According to the developers, this system provides a learning resource library with over 1 million items, approximately 10,000 video lectures, and records billions of practice sessions annually on both computers and mobile devices.

After more than 5 years of implementation, the platform has attracted nearly 20 million users, with approximately 4 million students participating each year.

VioEdu has collaborated with numerous Departments of Education and Training nationwide to organize free academic competitions, and has also received several awards in the field of educational technology both domestically and internationally.

Participants and competition subjects

VioEdu is for students from grades 1 to 9 (primary and lower secondary school).

Specifically, Mathematics is taught to all grade levels; while Vietnamese, English, and Mathematics in English are primarily for primary school students.

Participation is completely free and voluntary, although in many schools students are encouraged to participate as a supplementary activity.

Organizational format and competition rounds

A typical VioEdu competition season consists of 15 rounds, including 12 online preliminary rounds held at home, followed by rounds at the school, district/county, and provincial/city levels.

Each round of the competition is open once a week, students have about 20 minutes to complete the test and can only participate once. The results are automatically graded and ranked by the system immediately after completion.

In the 2025-2026 school year, according to the organizers' guidelines, the regional (commune/ward) level competition will be held online, centrally at the school, with supervision and video recording to ensure transparency.

Participants are students who have passed the school-level round, achieved 15 points or more, and are selected in order of their scores. Each test consists of 30 questions, with a time limit of 20 minutes.

How to register

To participate, students need an account on the VioEdu system, either provided by the school or by registering themselves before the competition rounds begin.

Schools typically play a coordinating role with organizers to guide students in participating according to regulations.

Scoring and prize system

The exam results are calculated based on scores and completion time. Additionally, students can accumulate "diamonds" to exchange for gifts or learning materials.

In the higher rounds, contestants are awarded certificates and judged on their ranking.

Why does VioEdu attract so many students?

According to the organizers, VioEdu attracts millions of students each year. The appeal of this platform stems from its combination of learning and testing on a digital platform, the application of artificial intelligence to personalize learning, and gamification elements such as rankings and point accumulation.

In addition, many localities also organize awards for students who achieve high results, contributing to increased interest in the competition.

However, with its increasing scale, ensuring transparency and fairness in the organization of the competition is becoming an increasingly important requirement for this arena.

Invigilators helped students cheat, many VioEdu exam rooms in Hanoi had their results invalidated . Numerous instances of cheating were discovered in several exam rooms in Hanoi during the VioEdu competition, including invigilators entering the exam area to help students cheat and assisting them, and creating blind spots to interfere with the exam.
