In today's trading session, many stocks hit their upper limit. Notably, GAS surged 6.9% to 88,500 VND/share; PLX also rose 7% to 41,450 VND/share with a large buy order at the upper limit; GVR also performed well, increasing 6.9% to 29,450 VND/share.

In addition, the banking sector continued its strong upward trend. Notable examples include BID soaring 5.3%, VCB up 4%, and CTG up 3.5%. The strong green color covered most large and small bank stocks, firmly consolidating the index's upward momentum.

The Vingroup group also contributed positively to the rise of the VN-Index. VHM surged 5.4% to 149,500 VND, and VIC increased 3.4% to 179,000 VND. Although it did not reach the ceiling like the oil and gas group, Vingroup's increase was a significant driving force helping the VN30 index rise by more than 40 points.

According to Saigon - Hanoi Securities Joint Stock Company (SHS), the market enters 2026 with a foundation built on the outstanding growth momentum of 2025. SHS stated that the short-term trend of the VN-Index remains upward.

Regarding the VN30 index, SHS predicts that it is likely to retest the previous peak around 2,050 points in the first trading sessions of the new year. The market is expected to officially enter the new investment period of 2026 in the following sessions.

According to SHH, the market is expected to see the emergence of many outstanding growth stocks, offering numerous opportunities for investors in 2026.

However, SHS advises investors to maintain a reasonable allocation, focusing on stocks with strong fundamentals and leading positions in strategic sectors of the economy .

AseanSC Securities Company suggests that, in the short term, investors with a large cash position can gradually disburse funds during market fluctuations, prioritizing stocks that are trending upwards in the short term on technical charts, in sectors such as real estate, banking, securities, and retail-consumer goods.

With a buy-and-hold strategy for the long term, investors prioritize holding and focusing on leading stocks in their respective industries and maintaining the prospect of profit growth in 2026.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Minh, Director of the Individual Client Research and Development Division at Yuanta Securities Vietnam, fiscal and monetary policies are expected to continue to be loosened in 2026, thereby improving cash flow and creating positive demand for various asset classes, including stocks.

Furthermore, the main drivers of the market, centered around two major pillars—economic growth and the prospect of upgrading the stock market's status—will contribute to a bright outlook for the market.

Mr. Minh also believes that the Vietnamese stock market is still in a recovery cycle. Market-wide profits are projected to grow by approximately 17-20%, with a market-wide P/E valuation of around 12.5 times. This valuation level is considered relatively attractive, opening up opportunities for many stocks with strong business fundamentals that were overlooked in the previous period.

This is also a time to encourage investors to improve their analytical skills, shifting their focus from short-term index movements to the fundamental quality of businesses. Entering 2026, correctly identifying large-cap stocks with genuine intrinsic value will become a key factor for long-term investment strategies ,” Mr. Minh advised.

Mr. Minh also stated that in the new year, several sectors will have outstanding prospects, such as: Banking continues to be an important pillar of the market. With a projected credit growth rate of around 17-20%, this sector still has relatively good room for growth.

Furthermore, the securities sector directly benefits from market development. Events such as the implementation of the KRX system, the availability of T+0 trading, and market upgrades have all helped securities companies expand their products, increase liquidity, and improve revenue.
