Vo Dinh Tu alone was capable of defeating thousands of people. Ms. Bui Thi Xuan gave Vo Dinh Tu a peach flag embroidered with four golden words "General Thiet Con"...
Vo Dinh Tu, from Phu Phong village, Tuy Vien district. Son of a rich family, generous, honest, and braver than others. Since childhood, his family brought him home to teach Vo Dinh Tu to learn both literature and martial arts. When he was 14 years old, a monk suddenly appeared in the village with an ugly face and ragged clothes. He often came to sit in the alley of the Vo family's house. Whenever children in the village see a monk, they come to tease him. Even though the children were shouting and doing many annoying things, the monk still sat cross-legged, eyes closed. They got bored and got no response, so they left together.
Particularly, Vo Dinh Tu had a very respectful and loving attitude towards the monk. When the monk arrived, Tu either brought rice, water, or fruit and cakes to make offerings. The monk happily accepted. However, the two never said a word to each other. One day, it was raining heavily and no one dared to go out. It rained heavily all day. At night, the rain stopped and the wind stopped. Tu was nowhere to be seen in the house, and the monk also disappeared in the alley.
The family sent people everywhere, day after day, still no trace was found. The family decided that Tu had been kidnapped by the monk. The only thing left to do is burn incense and pray to God to bless Tu. Ten years later, Tu returned and had become a muscular young man with strength like a tiger and still maintained his kind and spontaneous personality. At first glance, no one would know that he was a martial arts expert.
Tu went home, closed the door, read books, and did not socialize with anyone, except Vo Van Dung. The two are close friends. Meeting each other, in addition to discussing martial arts, we often talk about current events. Although he is rich and has excellent martial arts skills, Tu still does not like to get married. Sometimes they close their doors to go out and socialize for months before returning.
Regarding martial arts, Tu is proficient in all types: Cone, sword, spear, boxing... Regarding martial arts, he is more inclined towards strong martial arts, this subject is very suitable for Tu's body and strength. In addition to horseback riding and archery, Tu is famous for using iron bars. When dancing with a stick in the rain, Tu did not get a drop of water on his body. Tu alone is capable of defeating thousands of people. Ms. Bui Thi Xuan gave Vo Dinh Tu a peach flag embroidered with four golden words "General Thiet Con".
When Vo Van Dung returned to Tay Son, Dung introduced Tu and Tay Son king. Vuong himself rode a horse to visit and invited him to cooperate. In the Tay Son camp, Tu was very fond of Nguyen Hue, and was loved by Hue like his own flesh and blood. Every day we discussed martial arts and military techniques together. When the Tay Son dynasty rebelled, Vo Dinh Tu was promoted to the position of General Manager and Bui Thi Xuan managed the Tay Son region and defended the barracks.
In 1778, Nguyen Nhac proclaimed himself emperor and promoted Vo Dinh Tu to the rank of lieutenant. When King Quang Trung went to Thuan Hoa, he took Tu with him. At that time, Bui Dac Tuyen had just become Thi Lang of the Ministry of Rites, but because she was Queen Bui's younger sister, she was allowed to freely enter and leave the palace. Tuyen often played many games to win the favor of Crown Prince Nguyen Quang Toan. Knowing that Vo Dinh Tu had a talent for jumping high, Tuyen encouraged Quang Toan to ask Tu to perform.
Another day, Vo Dinh Tu and Dang Xuan Phong went to the palace to meet King Quang Trung. Knowing that these were two generals famous for their excellent skill in stick fighting, Bui Dac Tuyen immediately found a way to entertain the crown prince. Tuyen, acting as a fellow countryman, invited Vo and Dang to his house to drink. The Crown Prince was also welcomed. A wine party is held in the afternoon. After the party, the crown prince asked to watch the two ministers fight.
After this fight, public opinion was stirred. The class praised the two heroes for their excellent talent and talent, worthy of the title "Tay Con Hai Than Cong". The class criticized the two ministers for not knowing how to respect themselves. The gossip flew to King Quang Trung's ears. The king immediately reprimanded the crown prince and his two ministers, Vo and Dang, and forbade Bui Dac Tuyen to do any more fun games that would disrupt the unity of the ministers like that.
Discussion:
According to preserved documents, Vo Dinh Tu was one of Nguyen Hue's seven generals. And when the Tay Son court was established, Nguyen Hue became king, Vo Dinh Tu became one of the founding fathers and heroes who followed the Tay Son dynasty from the time they were clothed. Yet, in order to please Prince Quang Toan, who was just a child at that time, Bui Dac Tuyen asked Vo Dinh Tu to dance for fun. Perhaps because of the army and Crown Prince Toan, who was the future king, Vo Dinh Tu did not dare to disobey orders. That's how it turns out that, being flatterers and traitors, they do not spare any tricks to please their masters, even when they know that doing so can humiliate and even kill their colleagues, but they still do it.
Unfortunately, King Quang Trung at that time was not strict in teaching the crown prince and his courtiers, especially those who were princes and nationals like Bui Dac Tuyen. It was this mistake that led to Bui Dac Tuyen's abuse of power and was also the main reason why the Tay Son dynasty quickly perished. We know that this is too high a price for the Tay Son family, but it is a useful lesson for future generations in using people.
