What does VRG say about the 39-39B Ben Van Don project?

On May 27th, Mr. Le Thanh Hung, General Director of VRG, sent a document to the group's member units regarding the property at 39-39B Ben Van Don (Ward 12, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City).

Accordingly, the property at 39-39B Ben Van Don originated from SIIV Company (a French-owned company that directly invested in and operated the Dong Nai rubber plantation) and was requisitioned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and handed over to the General Department of Rubber (later the Vietnam Rubber Group) for direct management and use in production and business activities according to Decision No. 04/QD dated January 19, 1976.

After taking over, the General Department of Rubber assigned the Dong Nai Rubber Company to manage and use it. In October 1995, the Dong Nai Rubber Company handed over 827.9 m2 to the Ba Ria Rubber Company (address: 39B Ben Van Don); the remaining area managed by the Dong Nai Rubber Company is 5,374 m2 (address: 39 Ben Van Don).

Vietnam Rubber Industry Group

In 2009, as part of a restructuring plan, Dong Nai Rubber Corporation and Ba Ria Rubber Company jointly established Phu Viet Tin Company Limited to manage and implement the apartment project (in which: Dong Nai Rubber Corporation contributed over 4.3 billion VND, accounting for 72%; Ba Ria Rubber Company contributed 1.68 billion VND, accounting for 28%). Subsequently, Phu Viet Tin Company Limited did not implement the project, and Dong Nai Rubber Corporation and Ba Ria Rubber Company transferred their shares in Phu Viet Tin Company Limited to other investors.

Recently, the Investigation Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security (C03) issued Decision No. 33/QD-CSKT-P5 to initiate a criminal case for "Violation of regulations on the management and use of State assets causing loss and waste" occurring at the Vietnam Rubber Industry Group, Dong Nai Rubber Company, Ba Ria Rubber Company, and related units concerning irregularities at the 39-39B Ben Van Don land project.

"Currently, the corporation continues to work with relevant authorities in a serious and constructive manner to request that units and individuals involved in violations rectify their mistakes. At the same time, the corporation requests that member units encourage their staff and workers to remain confident in their work, trust in the corporation's leadership, focus on performing their production and business tasks to the best of their ability, and be determined to achieve the highest possible results in the 2024 production and business plan targets." – the document stated.

Currently, VRG is preparing to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnamese rubber industry (October 28, 1929 - October 28, 2024). VRG calls on all cadres, employees, and workers to strive in labor and production, unite, make efforts to overcome difficulties, and best complete the assigned plan, contributing to building a sustainable rubber industry.
