Dubbed the "Steel Brigade" of the Navy, Brigade 162 of Region 4 has consistently performed its assigned tasks well over the years, excelling in many aspects. The Brigade has become one of the leading units in the Emulation Movement for Victory of Region 4 as well as the Navy.

Brigade 162 (Naval Region 4) is one of the most modern surface combat units of the Vietnamese Navy. The brigade is tasked with training and maintaining combat readiness to protect the sovereignty of the South Central Sea, the Spratly Islands, and the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland; participating in defense diplomacy and other assigned tasks. Despite numerous difficulties, the Brigade's Party Committee and command have focused on leading and directing the comprehensive implementation of all aspects of work, with many synchronized and decisive solutions, successfully completing all assigned tasks.

Officers and soldiers throughout the Brigade always maintain unity and cohesion, innovate and improve the quality of training and combat readiness; build a clean and strong Party committee and a comprehensively strong unit that is "exemplary and outstanding," actively contributing to the cause of firmly protecting the sovereignty of the nation's seas and islands.

Overcoming difficult weather and soil conditions, the Brigade has boosted agricultural production, ensuring that 50% of the green vegetables for the soldiers' meals at the mess hall are supplied.
