These 700 staff members come from all countries, ethnicities, and age groups, the youngest being just 18 and the oldest 80. Besides organizing task forces, preparing logistics, connecting with organizers, and providing remote support during their work, Giang also regularly attends major events to provide direct support and training to these teams in new markets.

Giang Phạm tác nghiệp tại American Birkiebeiner

Giang is working at American Birkiebeiner.

Graduating with a Master's degree in Journalism, Communication, and Globalization from Aarhus University (Denmark) and the University of Hamburg (Germany), along with years of work and travel throughout Europe, has given Giang invaluable experiences. Living independently, traveling to many places, and interacting with friends from diverse cultures has shaped Giang Pham into a "curious" individual. This has helped him clearly define his career path, choosing a job that allows him to travel, see, and tell his story.

Giang previously covered the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and collaborated with numerous domestic and international media outlets and projects. He recently returned from the American Birkiebeiner – North America's largest cross-country ski race with over 50 years of history. Working for the first time in near--20°C, his limbs were numb and he couldn't even press the shutter button, despite having prepared quite well with warm clothing. He diligently observed his colleagues and locals to learn how to stay warm, ensuring he could complete his work successfully.

Giang miệt mài đến nhiều nơi để lưu lại những bức ảnh có chiều sâu về mặt thông điệp và nhân vật

Giang tirelessly travels to many places to capture photographs that have depth in terms of message and characters.

Reserved, calm, and steadfast are Giang's most prominent personality traits. For him, even facing daily challenges at work is a way to reflect on himself. Through this, he learns and grows continuously.

Understand yourself, understand others.

Giang has traveled to 45 countries and territories. Each place has offered memorable experiences. To integrate into the local community and avoid unnecessary conflicts, he believes the most crucial thing is to understand oneself and others. "Understanding yourself means knowing who you are, where you come from, and how you are different from the place you are in. Understanding others means empathizing with differences and knowing how to adjust your lifestyle accordingly," Giang shared.

Language and socio-cultural understanding are also important, helping Giang become less shy and more confident.

Having worked on numerous projects with varying responsibilities has given Giang a comprehensive understanding of the profession, and starting from the lowest positions has helped her quickly become familiar with the work process. Giang also has multiple perspectives, from both the manager's and employee's viewpoints, to find the best approach to every problem.

Since working in the US, in addition to his experience as a middle manager at a global company, Giang has gained a deeper understanding of Americans and their way of life and work. The work culture here is very different from Europe and Asia, so communication and work coordination must also adapt. For example, in the US, individuality is highly valued, and people prioritize their own convenience, so he needs to give them more freedom in commuting and choosing accommodation within their budget, whereas in Asia, people are more accepting of living together in a group. He constantly reminds himself to strive to understand people and their lives in depth, build a solid professional skill set, and expand his network of quality connections across the globe.

Giang's colorful journey could be an ideal picture for many young people who dream of becoming global citizens. Stepping out of his comfort zone and breaking through in the international market, Giang still wants to return to serve his homeland in the future. "Many areas in Vietnam still have development projects, many stories, people, social issues, and cultural heritage that need to be told and preserved. I want to continue living and participating in those valuable processes," he emphasized.
