Wolves fans are hoping for a miracle at the end of the season. |
Since the beginning of the month, Wolves have been one of the best-performing teams in the Premier League. In their last three Premier League matches, Wolves beat Aston Villa 2-0 and defeated Liverpool 2-1, both of which were shocking results this season.
In the early hours of March 17th, Wolves once again brilliantly held Brentford to a 2-2 draw away from home. Wolves showed incredible resilience, managing to equalize even after being 0-2 down.
A run of three matches yielding seven points has significantly improved Wolves' position in the league table. Although still bottom of the table and 12 points behind safety, Wolves have shown that avoiding relegation is no longer as "impossible" as it was a few months ago.
It's important to note that, according to Opta's supercomputer and predictive models, Wolves currently have only about a 0.08 to 0.3% chance of avoiding relegation (meaning they are almost certain to be relegated with a probability of over 99%).

Wolves are playing very well. |
Wolves (currently with 17 points) need at least 30-35 points to avoid relegation (usually the safe threshold). This means the "Wolves" must earn an additional 13 to 18 points from their remaining 7 matches.
No team in Premier League history has ever avoided relegation with only 17 points from 31 matches. However, if Wolves maintain their current high form, they could very well reach 30-35 points.
Don't forget Wolves drew with Arsenal and Brentford, and beat both Villa and Liverpool. And in football, anything can happen.
If Wolves can continue to play with the spirit and form they've shown in their last three matches, they could achieve a miraculous survival and create one of the greatest "escapes" in the league's history.
