Entering the playoff match on the afternoon of June 16th, both Lam Dong and Truong Giang Gia Dinh understood that this was their chance to "change their fortunes." The team from Ho Chi Minh City started more proactively thanks to their experienced players. In the 10th minute, Gia Dinh nearly opened the scoring when Huu Nhieu took a close-range shot, but goalkeeper Lam Nhat made an excellent save.
Following this incident, Lam Dong gradually regained control of the game. The team from the mountainous region played more disciplined football, tightening their formation and limiting space. Although Gia Dinh controlled the ball more in the first half, they did not create any significant opportunities. Conversely, Lam Dong mainly focused on contesting the midfield, resulting in a back-and-forth game lacking dynamism.
The second half saw a more balanced game as both teams exchanged attacks. However, the ball mainly stayed in the midfield area. Dangerous opportunities were almost non-existent, except for a moment in the 83rd minute when Gia Dinh's goalkeeper Anh Tri failed to hold onto the ball.
After 90 minutes, the match ended goalless. This result forced the two teams into a penalty shootout to determine the winner. After 6 rounds of penalties, Lam Dong won 4-3 against Gia Dinh to secure the final promotion spot.
Earlier in the matches on June 14th, the first two promotion spots went to Hanoi Youth and Hue. Meanwhile, Phu Dong Youth and Mekong Can Tho were relegated to the Third Division from the 2027 season.
