Our ancestral homeland is being adorned with a vibrant new look to welcome a warm and happy Lunar New Year of the Snake.
People in Viet Tri city hang the national flag to welcome the Year of the Snake 2025.
These days, from bustling city streets to peaceful countryside, the vibrant red of the national flag and pennants adorns streets, community cultural centers, and private homes. In the warm spring sunshine, flower gardens and flowerbeds in public areas, along roadsides, and in the grounds of community cultural centers are meticulously cared for, bursting with color to welcome the new year. Urban beautification, landscaping, and environmental sanitation efforts are being widely implemented under the direction of local authorities.
In Viet Tri – a city of festivals celebrating the roots of the Vietnamese nation – urban beautification and environmental protection are always prioritized and implemented in conjunction with the program to build a civilized city. To welcome the new year, Viet Tri city is urgently beautifying its urban areas to give its streets a clean, green, bright, and beautiful appearance. Posters, large billboards, lightbox signs, and electronic display boards throughout the city have been given a "new look"; along the roads, red flags, pennants, and banners have been hung; in streets, neighborhoods, and alleys, people are displaying the national flag, decorating, painting murals, hanging LED lights, and pennants. Simultaneously, the city is directing efforts to improve the lighting system, traffic lights, public green spaces, and ensure urban order and environmental sanitation.
Comrade Bui Tuan Nghia – Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Viet Tri City, said: From the beginning of December until now, the city has directed departments and agencies to accelerate the progress of urban beautification to welcome the New Year 2025 and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake. Investment projects to renovate and upgrade roads, sidewalks, and drainage systems on some roads in the city are being urgently completed. The city also assigned the Urban Management Department to be the permanent body, presiding over and advising the People's Committee of the city in directing and managing urban beautification, environmental sanitation, ensuring urban order and construction order; coordinating the inspection and supervision of the implementation of the plan in wards and communes as a basis for evaluating the results. At the same time, it guided the People's Committees of wards and communes, units, businesses, and people to decorate with lights and trees along main roads, high-rise buildings, business headquarters, agencies, and residential houses; Supervise and inspect urban beautification work, green spaces, public lighting, decorative lighting, traffic lights, environmental sanitation, construction order, urban order, garbage collection, and environmental cleaning; clear weeds and bushes on suburban roads to ensure clear visibility...
Along with Viet Tri city, urban areas throughout the province are simultaneously carrying out beautification, landscape construction, and environmental protection work. In rural areas, at the end of the year, despite being busy with farming and household chores, all members of the village community eagerly participate in environmental sanitation to ensure clean and beautiful roads to welcome the New Year. Women's association members, farmers, veterans, and youth union members join hands to collect accumulated waste and scrap materials, trim and care for trees and flowers, hang flags, etc., beautifying the roads and alleys where they live. Wide, clean concrete rural roads, lined with vibrant flowers and shaded by trees, make each village a peaceful and livable place.
In all residential areas, community-wide cleanup campaigns have been actively supported and participated in to create a green, clean, and beautiful landscape to welcome the Lunar New Year. For example, in Smart Residential Area No. 5, Cao Xa Commune, Lam Thao District, the atmosphere of preparing for the Year of the Snake is more vibrant. As is customary every year, in addition to the activities of environmental sanitation teams, the area also mobilizes the participation of households to collect waste, clear drainage ditches, clear overgrown bushes, care for flowers and ornamental plants in the area, and tidy up houses... to welcome the new year.
Trinh Van Khoa, head of residential area No. 5 in Cao Xa commune, shared: “According to the announcement from the area, each family sent at least one person to participate in the collective cleaning. When the work started, everyone was active and cheerful, chatting lively while working. People focused on cleaning the environment in the main roads of the area, the cultural center, the village communal house, etc., then spread out to the alleys and hamlets. When the work was finished, the roads seemed wider, cleaner, and more beautiful, making everyone feel joyful and happy. Before that, the households all agreed to contribute funds to buy fresh flowers and trees to plant along the main road; flags, flashing lights, LEDs, banners for decoration... This activity not only shows the responsibility of each individual and family to the residential area, but more importantly, it becomes a form of community activity, contributing to building and strengthening solidarity among the people, working together to build a more prosperous and beautiful homeland.”
The atmosphere of the traditional Lunar New Year is already vibrant. Urban and rural beautification efforts not only create a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere for the people to welcome the new year, but also demonstrate the civility and sense of responsibility of the people in protecting the environment and building a beautiful landscape in the ancestral land.
