DTO - 50 years after the country achieved peace and reunification, the armed forces of Dong Thap province have continuously grown and matured, affirming their core role in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. From training and combat readiness to building a solid defense zone, with the increasingly consolidated position of the people, the provincial armed forces are always worthy of the trust and love of the Party, the government and the people.

BUILDING A STRONG AND COMPREHENSIVE FORCE

Infantry Regiment 320, under the Military Command of Dong Thap province, is the main unit, responsible for training, combat readiness, and participating in protecting the defense zone and the southwestern border of the province. Inheriting and promoting the heroic tradition, each officer and soldier of the Regiment always upholds the spirit of initiative, solidarity, creativity, is not afraid of difficulties, determined to excellently complete all combat training tasks, build a strong and comprehensive unit, achieve the title of "Exemplary, typical", contributing significantly to consolidating the province's solid defense posture.

In peacetime, in addition to the task of building a strong unit, the 320th Infantry Regiment also actively carries out training and combat readiness work to meet the requirements of the tasks in the new situation. The Party Committee - Command of the Regiment pays special attention to improving the qualifications and command and management capacity of cadres at all levels. The quality of training for the subjects has been significantly improved through the innovation of training content, programs and methods according to the motto "Basic, practical, solid", focusing on synchronous, in-depth training, close to the requirements of the tasks, characteristics of the subjects and combat areas. The "Determined to Win" emulation movement and the raid emulation campaigns have been widely deployed, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere throughout the entire armed forces.

The regiment also implemented many practical measures to overcome difficulties, focusing on political and ideological education for new soldiers, encouraging their spirit, taking care of their material, spiritual and health life, creating the best conditions for soldiers to complete their study and training tasks well. The results of training new soldiers every year always reach 100% of the content and program with the overall results of the unit being excellent, ensuring absolute safety for people and weapons and equipment.

A STRONG FOUNDATION FROM DEFENSIVE AREA

Building a solid KVPT is a key task in local defense work. Over the past years, the Party committees, authorities, departments, branches and socio-political organizations of Dong Thap province have thoroughly grasped the viewpoints, policies and guidelines of the Party, policies and laws of the State on building KVPT. Thanks to that, this work has made an important contribution to socio-economic development, while firmly ensuring the requirements of the province's defense tasks.

Implementing Resolution No. 21 dated February 22, 2019 of the Government on building the KVPT, the Provincial Military Command has proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a decision to consolidate the Steering Committee for building the KVPT, people's air defense, anti-terrorism and protecting political security, social order and safety in the area. At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee approved the Project on building the KVPT in the province for the period 2021 - 2025, focusing resources on building the KVPT more and more firmly. Local Party committees and authorities have concretized the directive documents of the superiors into specific resolutions, plans and action programs, suitable to the actual situation of each locality.

Colonel Nguyen Huu Cuong - Commander of the Military Command of Dong Thap province, said: “The province has successfully organized many KVPT drills at the provincial, district and commune levels, all of which achieved the set goals and ensured absolute safety. Through these drills, the leadership and management capacity of the Party Committee, the government, the advisory capacity of the armed forces and departments, branches and sectors in organizing coordination and handling situations that may occur in the area have been significantly improved. Thereby, the province has promptly adjusted and supplemented the plans and plans for combat readiness in accordance with the actual situation.”

Under the close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee and the drastic direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the national defense posture associated with the people's security posture and the national border defense posture in the province has been increasingly consolidated. The provincial armed forces have been increasingly strengthened, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Party committees, authorities, departments, branches, sectors, and socio-political organizations have promoted propaganda work on the position and importance of the task of building the border defense zone to cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, union members, members of the armed forces and the people. Thereby, orienting the ideology, maintaining the people's trust in participating in building the armed forces, building the national defense posture, and the people's security posture in the border defense zone, contributing to maintaining political stability and social order and safety in the area.

In the coming time, the Provincial Military Command will continue to effectively implement Conclusion No. 204 dated September 27, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on "Continuing to strengthen leadership of national defense and security tasks for the period 2021 - 2025" in accordance with the conditions and actual situation of the locality; build a national defense foundation, a national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture; build a solid KVPT in the new situation. At the same time, the province will strengthen and expand foreign relations, create a favorable environment for socio-economic development, and maintain absolute security on the border line.

PEOPLE'S HEARTS - THE FOUNDATION OF STRENGTH

In the process of performing its tasks, the provincial military always focuses on innovation, creativity, and effectively implementing many practical models, typically the "Military-Civilian Tet" program. This program has created a widespread influence throughout the province, contributing to strengthening the increasingly strong solidarity relationship between the military and the people.

The program "Tet Quan - Dan" has been implemented since 2017 and has become a beautiful tradition of the provincial armed forces every time Tet comes and Spring comes. Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, and the armed forces have closely coordinated to organize activities with rich content and forms, attracting a large number of people to participate and support. Every year, localities select communes to organize "Tet Quan - Dan", mobilizing all resources in the community, contributing to changing the face of the countryside, strengthening people's trust in the Party, government and tightening the solidarity between the army and the people.

Typically, in 2025, Thanh Binh district will carry out "Tet Quan - Dan" activities associated with the implementation of the National Target Program on building new rural areas (NTM), civilized urban areas and social security programs in 13 communes and towns. Localities have promoted the role of contributing working days of the people, carrying out many practical projects such as: building, repairing and upgrading over 6km of rural roads; repairing and building 3 new concrete bridges; donating and supporting the construction of nearly 400 houses; installing 380 solar lights to light up nearly 20km of rural roads; planting thousands of trees; awarding 143 scholarships, giving nearly 3,600 health insurance cards; organizing free medical examinations and medicine for more than 1,900 people, actively contributing to the construction of NTM, civilized urban areas and ensuring social security in the area.

According to statistics from the Provincial Military Command, in 2025, the "Tet Quan - Dan" program mobilized about 150 billion VND to build 36 bridges, 292 houses, renovate and repair 42km of rural roads, install 1,259 lighting equipment, donate 2,140 health insurance cards, give 48,744 gifts to policy families, poor households and organize free medical examination and medicine for more than 8,000 people. Since 2017, the "Tet Quan - Dan" model has been organized in more than 170 communes, wards and towns in the whole province, with a total mobilization budget of more than 1,030 billion VND, contributing significantly to helping many localities achieve NTM standards.

Colonel Nguyen Huu Cuong - Commander of the Provincial Military Command, shared: "The model of "Tet Quan - Dan" has created a strong change in awareness and responsibility of the entire political system, mobilizing great contributions from organizations and individuals in building new rural areas, civilized urban areas and implementing social security programs, promoting the tradition of military - civilian solidarity, building increasingly strong Party committees, authorities, armed forces and socio-political organizations".

With continuous efforts in building forces, consolidating the defense zone and cultivating the people's hearts, the People's Armed Forces of Dong Thap province have been making important contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, deserving to be a reliable force of the Party Committee, government and people of the province in the next stage of development.
