Building a "People's Support Belt" in border areas.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In the highland villages of Thanh Hoa province, the image of the green-uniformed soldiers is not only that of border guards and boundary markers, but also of close companions of the ethnic people. Through concrete and practical actions, they are cultivating and building a strong "belt of people's hearts" in the border regions of the Fatherland.

Officers and soldiers of the Tén Tằn Border Gate Border Guard Station, in coordination with local forces, are clearing landslides caused by the recent Typhoon No. 5.

Understanding that "a prosperous people makes a strong border," border guard posts along the mountainous areas have actively coordinated with local authorities to implement many effective economic development models, thereby contributing to improving the lives of the people. One of the models that has been and is bringing practical results is the "Colored-feather chicken farming" model implemented by the Pù Nhi Border Guard Post in coordination with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. in the two communes of Pù Nhi and Nhi Sơn.

Immediately after the model was implemented, Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. donated 4,000 chicks and 112 bottles of disinfectant to 78 households participating in the project. They also organized training and guidance for the villagers on proper care techniques to ensure the chickens grew and developed well. The Pù Nhi Border Guard Post provided initial feed and care equipment, and assigned specific tasks to each Party member responsible for a household, monitoring, supporting, assisting, and advising the people on how to care for and maintain the "Colored-Feather Chicken Farming" model effectively. From this initial pilot model, the model has proven economically effective and is now being replicated in many other localities in the area.

Similarly, to help people develop their economy and sustainably escape poverty, the Yen Khuong Border Guard Station, in coordination with VINACO Thanh Hoa Agricultural Investment and Development Consulting Company Limited, donated 3,026 ducklings and 1.1 tons of animal feed to 44 disadvantaged households in Yen Khuong commune. Likewise, the Na Meo International Border Gate Border Guard Station implemented a two-crop wet rice cultivation model with a yield of over 50 quintals/hectare, an increase of 20 quintals/hectare compared to traditional farming in three Mong ethnic minority villages: Che Lau, Mua Xuan, and Xia Noi; the Tam Thanh Border Guard Station signed cooperation agreements with associations and organizations such as the women's association and the farmers' association to donate breeding cows; maintained a model of raising indigenous black pigs; a high-yield cassava cultivation model and wild apple tree planting model in Pu Nhi commune; goat and wild boar farming at the Quang Chieu Border Guard Station; and sturgeon farming at the Bat Mot Border Guard Station...

It is evident that the strength of the "people's support" not only brings prosperity and happiness to the ethnic minorities in the border areas of Thanh Hoa province, but is also nurtured by meaningful and practical emulation movements and actions. These include the "Border Guards Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas" movement, which has been realized through thousands of man-days of labor; providing financial and material support to help people build houses, repair roads, and construct public works. The "Giving Breeding Cattle to Help Poor Households Rise Up" program not only provides livestock but also instills confidence and motivation for people to escape poverty sustainably.

In particular, programs such as "Springtime at the Border Guard Station: Warming the Hearts of the People," "Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts," and "Helping Children Go to School" have become beautiful traditions, strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people. Rice cakes and Tet gifts are personally prepared and delivered by soldiers to poor households and families receiving preferential treatment during the days leading up to Tet. Orphaned children and those in difficult circumstances are sponsored by border guard posts, receiving care for their meals and sleep; and supported with books and school supplies to attend school... Many units are considered to have flexible approaches that suit the practical conditions of the locality, such as the Border Guard Posts of Tam Chung, Da Loc, Pu Nhi, Ten Tan, Bat Mot, and the Na Meo International Border Gate Border Guard Post... Regular free medical examinations and medicine distribution programs have alleviated the suffering of illness in the mountainous regions that still face many hardships. This is also an opportunity to strengthen the bond between the military and the people, promote solidarity, and work together to build a strong all-people border defense posture.

Colonel Le Van Nam, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Provincial Border Guard, stated: "It can be seen that from the highland villages to the coastal areas, every step taken by the officers and soldiers of the Thanh Hoa Border Guard is not only to patrol and guard the border but also leaves a deep mark of affection with all strata of the people. These soldiers in green uniforms are the solid 'bridges,' bringing the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws to the people, and are also the most trustworthy friends and relatives of the people in the border regions. This 'belt of people's hearts' is a strong fortress, protecting the peace of every inch of sacred land at the forefront of the Fatherland."
