Accordingly, the Chairman of the City People's Committee agreed on the necessity of constructing a high-speed urban road to quickly connect the city center with the southern urban area (Tam Ky - Chu Lai).
Specifically: regarding the phased approach, it is possible to study the initial investment in 4-6 lanes. When traffic volume increases, the entire road cross-section will be upgraded simultaneously. The scale of TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) areas needs careful consideration to ensure efficient exploitation and suitability to the existing terrain and residential areas. The land use planning for TOD areas should prioritize locations with favorable natural conditions, development potential, and the advantage of being situated along the Yangtze River.
The Department of Construction is tasked with leading the updating of the project into the city's master plan and related plans. The City's Priority Infrastructure Investment Project Management Board is assigned as the investor for the inner-city expressway, coordinating with the Department of Construction to carry out the investment preparation work for the project.
Regarding the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 14G, the Chairman of the City People's Committee agreed to initially invest in the renovation and upgrading to ensure smooth traffic flow across two lanes from the Nui Than Tai tourist area to Dong Giang commune.
At the same time, the City's Priority Infrastructure Investment Project Management Board is tasked with urgently completing investment procedures and commencing construction in 2026 for the following projects: Upgrading and expanding the southern Hai Van bypass (section from Hoa Lien intersection to the coastal road intersection connecting Lien Chieu port).
Regarding the expansion of the Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal road, the Chairman of the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to lead a comprehensive study of the area with the reclaimed land urban development project. It is necessary to re-determine the nature and scale of the road and its connecting role with the reclaimed land urban development project in order to propose a road cross-section and landscape design along the route.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also agreed on the plan to expand the coastal road from Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa - Hoi An; the Cu De riverside road connecting the free trade zone; and the project to renovate the Nguyen Phuoc Chu - Ta Quang Buu road connecting to the southern Hai Van bypass.
