Mr. A Nong, from Kon Tuong village, Ngoc Linh commune, Dak Glei district, shared: "I feel very happy and joyful; this is like a big festival for the people of Kon Tuong village. The villagers got to participate in wrapping and cooking banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and received gifts and New Year greetings from the province. This year's Tet is the happiest Tet for the villagers."
Ms. Y Khoai, Secretary of the Party Branch of Kon Tuong village, Ngoc Linh commune, Dak Glei district, said: "The road to Kon Tuong village is a dirt road, only accessible on foot, but today, the Provincial Party Secretary and other provincial and district leaders have come to the village to wish us a Happy New Year and celebrate the Green Sticky Rice Cake Festival. This is a great encouragement for the villagers to overcome difficulties, work hard in production, increase their income, and have a more stable life."
Kon Tuong village, Ngoc Linh commune, is located on the mountainside. The village has 81 households and 277 inhabitants, all of whom are Xo Dang ethnic minorities. The villagers' lives mainly depend on rice cultivation and income from by-products under the forest canopy, medicinal plant cultivation, and forest management and protection contracts, resulting in many difficulties. Currently, the village has 16 poor households (19.75%) and 19 near-poor households (23.45%).
Faced with the difficulties of the people of Kon Tuong village, Kon Tum Provincial Party Secretary Duong Van Trang requested that the Provincial People's Committee and Dak Glei District People's Committee promptly finalize the investment plan. In the first months of 2025, they must begin constructing a concrete road connecting the suspension bridge to the village and paving the internal village roads with concrete, ensuring convenient transportation for families. At the same time, they should balance budget resources and focus on investing in socio -economic development for the people of Kon Tuong village.
