In the friendly match against Bangladesh on the evening of March 28th, Xuan Son was brought on in the second half, but his movements were not yet fluid. After the match, coach Kim Sang-sik said that the striker from Nam Dinh had gained 4 kg and the coaching staff would check his condition more closely.

During the training session on the afternoon of March 28th, the striker born in 1997 also spoke about his weight. According to Xuan Son, both his physical and mental condition is at 100% and he is ready for the match against Malaysia. Weight is not a major issue.

He said: "I think the weight issue doesn't make much difference and I'm just focused on playing football. Overall, I don't think about it much. Everything is fine, whether I score or not, I'm just focused on the next match against Malaysia."

"Everything is great now. Before the match the other day, I was in a little pain, but now I feel good both physically and mentally. I can say everything is 100% fine," Xuan Son added.

The match against Malaysia will take place at Thien Truong Stadium. Speaking about this, Xuan Son affirmed: "For me, Thien Truong has always been a special place; it's my home when I play for Nam Dinh. This will be a special match. I've dreamed about this, so I hope the whole team will win. I hope I score a goal to dedicate to the fans, and especially to myself because it's my birthday one day before the match."

Also related to the Vietnamese national team's training session on the afternoon of March 28th, midfielder Khuất Văn Khang did not participate. Previously, during the training session on the morning of March 27th, the striker from Thể Công Viettel suffered an ankle injury and had to leave the session early. Currently, the extent of the injury and Văn Khang's availability for the upcoming match remain uncertain.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese national team will have their final training session in Hanoi on the afternoon of March 29th. That evening, the entire team will travel to Ninh Binh to prepare for their match against Malaysia in the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. The match will take place at 7 PM on March 31st at Thien Truong Stadium.
