In 2025, Nguyen Phich Commune is expected to cultivate over 5,820 hectares of rice, and its aquaculture economy will continue to develop, with over 6,860 hectares dedicated to shrimp farming, yielding a total production of 20,313 tons of farmed and harvested aquatic products. Besides rice production and the cultivation of melaleuca and acacia forests, in recent years, the locality has effectively promoted production models adapted to natural conditions, especially the rice-freshwater prawn model, which has yielded significant economic benefits. This model helps to make good use of land and water resources, provides stable income, and reduces risks compared to monoculture production.
In Hamlet 15, one of the commune's largest agricultural areas, the total cultivated land covers over 1,270 hectares, primarily rice-shrimp farming combined with forest planting. This year, favorable weather and low pest and disease rates have resulted in good rice growth and high yields. Farmers have chosen suitable rice varieties such as Mot Bui Do, Flai, and ST25, averaging about 30 bushels per 1000 square meters. Not only has the rice crop been bountiful, but the giant freshwater prawn harvest has also been good, with favorable prices. Currently, the price of giant freshwater prawns ranges from 85,000 to 120,000 VND per kilogram, depending on size, providing a significant income for farmers.

Mr. Trinh Dac Luc, Secretary of the Party Branch of Hamlet 15, Nguyen Phich Commune, said: “The rice-shrimp farming model helps reduce investment costs and brings double income to many households. Compared to growing rice alone, raising freshwater prawns in rice fields is much more effective.”
Sharing in the joy of a bountiful harvest, Mr. Nguyen Le Tang, residing in Hamlet 29, Nguyen Phich Commune, shared: “My family has been raising freshwater prawns for 7-8 years. This season, we harvested about 800 kg, selling them at 85,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, we made a profit of about 74 million VND. The rice harvest is also complete, with a good yield. This year, we consider it a success for both rice and prawns.”

According to the People's Committee of Nguyen Phich Commune, the above results affirm the correct direction in restructuring the local agricultural production. Mr. Huynh Hoang Tuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nguyen Phich Commune, said: “The commune focuses on disseminating information and mobilizing people to apply production models suitable to natural conditions, especially the rice-green prawn model. By 2025, the commune will achieve and surpass 14 out of 14 socio-economic targets, with a total aquatic product output of over 20,310 tons. This is an important prerequisite for improving people's lives and developing sustainable agriculture.”

Beyond just production figures or income, the achievements have contributed to changing the face of rural areas, enabling many households to renovate their homes, invest in production, and provide for their children's education.
The new spring is arriving in the lush green rice and shrimp fields of Nguyen Phich Commune. A successful harvest of freshwater prawns and rice not only brings a stable income but also strengthens the people's confidence in sustainable production. Thanks to this, this year's Tet (Lunar New Year) will be warmer, more prosperous, and more fulfilling for the people of Nguyen Phich Commune.
